Summary:
The CT Tech operates computerized tomography (CT) scanners to produce cross-sectional images of patients' bodies for diagnostic purposes. They prepare patients for the procedure, position patients with considerations for safety and image accuracy, ensure proper imaging protocols are followed, and work closely with radiologists to obtain high-quality images for accurate diagnosis. CT Techs also maintain equipment, keep patient records, and follow safety procedures to minimize radiation exposure and provide compassionate care to patients throughout the imaging process.

Prepare patients for procedures, explain imaging process, and position patients appropriately
Set appropriate technical parameters to accurately demonstrate anatomy and pathology
Provide high-quality images to Radiologist for interpretation
Adhere to radiation safety standards and hospital policies to ensure patient and staff safety
Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of CT equipment to ensure proper functionality
Document patient information, imaging parameters, and procedural details accurately in the hospital's system
Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to deliver timely diagnostic services
Ability to adapt to different CT equipment and protocols across various healthcare facilities
Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of CT Tech practice

Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills
The ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language
Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills

Must be able to work under close supervision occasionally, as well as working without assistance from other personnel. Must be able to contend with irregular activity schedules occasionally and continuous concentration to detail

JOB SUMMARY
The Radiology Tech II, working under the supervision of the Radiology Director and the Staff Radiologist, performs radiological imaging examinations of patients using both stationary and mobile radiographic equipment. The Tech II positions patient as needed to obtain optimal images and prevent patient from being exposed to unnecessary radiation. Develops exposed X-ray film, ensures proper film identification on all images, and creates x-ray CD copies. Files films, maintains medical records, and performs other related administrative duties. The Technologist III is distinguished by their certification in one or more additional imaging modalities (e.g., CT, MRI, Mammography). Requires an associate degree in a related area, state licensure, and ARRT certification.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Obtains and documents relevant medical history prior to performing examinations.
Maintains certifications and demonstrates proficiency in one additional ARRT-recognized modalities.
Prepares and positions patients for diagnostic procedures, ensuring safety, comfort, and optimal imaging outcomes.
Performs diagnostic imaging procedures as ordered by the physician, following established protocols and standards of care.
Assists the radiologist with special procedures and fluoroscopic exams, ensuring appropriate setup and patient preparation.
Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of all radiology rooms and equipment according to infection control standards.
Ensures weekly assigned imaging rooms are fully stocked with necessary supplies and equipment.
Produces high-quality diagnostic images by properly setting exposure factors and utilizing imaging equipment.
Executes imaging studies according to departmental protocols for specific modalities.
Operates PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System), including CD burning for image distribution when necessary.
Follows department routines and standards for exam preparation, execution, and documentation.
Practices fiscal responsibility by ensuring job-related expenditures remain within budgetary guidelines.
Maintains strict confidentiality of patient and personnel information in compliance with HIPAA and hospital policy.
Actively participates in required Customer/Guest Relations and Mandatory Education programs.

Verifies and validates physician orders for imaging exams.

This position involves rotational coverage for our Orthopedic Walk-in Urgent care, OrthoNow. This includes some occasional Saturdays and evening coverage. May require scheduled travel to our Gillette clinic to support staffing needs on an as needed basis.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnostic Imaging
Perform high-quality radiographic exams following provider orders and imaging protocols
Ensure proper patient positioning, shielding, and radiation safety
Complete all documentation, exam labeling, and PACS/RIS entries accurately and promptly
Maintain equipment and supplies in good working order, ensuring they meet all regulatory requirements.
Patient Care & Workflow Support
Exceptional patient care skills are a must for this position
Greet, prepare, and educate patients before imaging exams
Monitor patient comfort and safety throughout procedures

Assist with scheduling, registration, or patient flow when needed
Procedure Assistance
Support physicians during imaging-guided orthopedic procedures (as applicable)

7. Operates portable radiographic equipment for the performance of procedures throughout the hospital including the intensive care unit, cardiac care unit, recovery room, and the emergency room.
8. Provides preventive maintenance to equipment and monitors its operation.
9. Contact nursing stations to verify patient schedules, medications, and special requirement or restrictions.
10. Assesses the patient's condition prior to administering a contrast media or performing the radiographic procedure.
11. Charts patients medications and completes X-ray requests for billing.
12. Discusses Radiologic examinations results with the departmental supervisor or professional personnel.
13. Ensures that any required consent forms are signed prior to examination.
14. Actively participates in the quality-assurance monitoring and recording efforts of the department.
