Responsibilities
* 1. Performs all diagnostic radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures within assigned areas.
* 1.1 Performs radiographs in a prompt and professional manner as observed by supervisor and staff and patient feedback.
* 2. Reviews all necessary documentation to perform diagnostic procedures.
* 2.1 Reviews all radiologic consults for information or special instructions as observed by radiologists, medical staff and supervisors.
* 3. Performs preventative visual and manual inspections for each radiographic room/equipment assigned ensuring appropriate maintenance and cleanliness.
* 3.1 Performs daily room/equipment inspections. Reports all necessary problems to appropriate individual as indicated by random review of equipment log.
* 4. Participates in the training and development,instruction of staff and radiology students.
* 4.1 Monitors student techs in the performance of their clinical duties in accordance with program guidelines, as observed by clinical coordinator.
* 5. Demonstrates basic leadership skills and professional growth.
* 5.1 Demonstrates ability to function in any position within assigned areas to ensure continuation of patient services as required as observed by supervisor.
* 6. Accurately enters all applicable information into the computer system and charges for procedures.
* 6.1 Verfies all information for accuracy and completeness and reports all errors to manager.
* 7. Plans and/or implements care for assigned patients.
* 7.1 Demonstrates knowledge of developmental stages from adolescence to old age and applies development theories/concepts when planning and implementing care for the adult patient as observed by supervisor and as indicated by feedback from staff.
* 8. Contributes to an effective quality management and quality control program for assigned area that is consistent with overall departmental/hospital quality management plan.
* 8.1 Monitors Q.A. activities in accordance to section plan as observed by supervisor.

Respects scheduled appointment times and communicates delays to reception staff and/or patients directly. Starts and completes examination in ADS workflow, checks-in breast ultrasound and includes complete and accurate notes to the Sonographer.
Evaluates Mammographic images for technical quality, repeats images as necessary and verifies images in PACS. Performs required post processing and/or transfers appropriate images to dedicated workstations. Ensures prior exams and reports are available for comparison. Provides correct forms/documentation and concise relevant history to the Radiologist for interpretation.
Selects correct patient and updates necessary clinical history. Enters pertinent notes relating to present exam and indicates the reason for exam/location of concern. Resolves prior examinations accurately. Indicates when shielding was utilized.
Follows universal precautions including the use of gloves, gowns and masks as appropriate. Cleans and disinfects between each patient and can perform/document high level disinfection appropriately. Consistently indicates in Magview that infection control was completed prior to the start of the exam. Keeps work area, waiting rooms and dressing rooms clean and tidy and stocks work area with laundry and medical supplies on a daily basis.
Maintains Mammography, Stereotactic and/or Bone Density Department quality control standards and updates all necessary logs. Initiates equipment service requests and notifies supervisor as necessary. Actively participates in Time Out procedures required for certain exams. Able to perform quality control tests per ACR requirements and reboot/shutdown systems per manufacturer guidelines.
Able to recognize specific psychological (ie. anxiety) and/or physical needs of patients and determine when further assistance is needed. Promptly responds to situations which require a timely response and documents relevant information on incident forms. Able to locate and use all necessary emergency equipment (code cart, oxygen, blood pressure monitor, pulse oximeter, etc). Able to initiate emergency response policy.
Functions as a Technologist in other modalities (X-Ray, Stereotactic Biopsy, Bone Density) upon supervisor request and skill level.
