Overview
In 1971, Yale University established Yale Health to provide health services to its facility, staff and students through a multidisciplinary health maintenance organization located on campus. Our state-of-the-art facility at 55 Lock Street, is where our members receive most of their care from our 150+ providers. It is a 144,000 square foot medical facility with over 90 exam rooms, an Acute Care Department, a 15-bed inpatient facility with two negative pressure rooms, a diagnostic imaging suite including MR and CT scan, x-ray and ultrasound and a full-service retail pharmacy.
Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, the RN oversees daily operations of the Pediatric Clinic with heavy emphasis on safe patient care and best clinical practices to ensure that the department's standards of patient care are consistently and continuously met. The RN assumes responsibility for incoming and follow-up patient calls that require clinical decisions and for evaluation and disposition of walk-in patients; provides care and treatment to patients per clinician's order and standing orders (CDC, ACIP and Yale Health standing orders), performs procedures at the direction of clinicians and maintains adequate vaccine stock. Position may provide direct nursing care and support in other clinics, as necessary.
Schedule: Full time, 37.50 hours/week, generally scheduled M-F, between the hours of 8:30 am - 5:00 pm. Early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays/recess also required. Flexible scheduling during annual Flu Clinics and may rotate to other departments such as Acute Care as needed.
Required Skills and Abilities
1. Demonstrated ability in an ambulatory or inpatient pediatric care facility. Well-developed assessment, critical thinking skills and the ability to use sound independent judgment.
2. Excellent organizational skills in order to effectively manage multiple priorities.
3. Computer proficiency related to the use of an electronic medical record. 4. Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work effectively and respectfully with a diverse population and as part of a collaborative and supportive team.
5. Excellent attendance, punctuality and reliability.
Preferred Skills and Abilities:
Three years Pediatric experience; competent triage skills, and proficiency in Epic.
Principal Responsibilities
1. Performs physical assessments of patients, including triage duties and advises on treatment or course of action by having knowledge of nursing care standards and principles. 2. Develops, implements, and manages nursing care plans in collaboration with physicians. 3. Interviews patients and records medical history to establish data for treatment plan. 4. Plans and coordinates the admission and discharge of all patients. 5. Instructs patients and families in proper treatment and advises patients on health maintenance and disease prevention. 6. Performs patient care procedures by following appropriate policy and procedure. 7. Records patients' medical histories and symptoms, operates medical machinery, administers treatment and medications, and coordinates patient follow-up and rehabilitation; assures all procedures for maintaining patient confidentiality are maintained per HIPAA guidelines. 8. Identifies education needed to assure competent delivery of patient care for oneself and others in the department. 9. May perform other duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience Graduation from accredited school of nursing. Required License(s) or Certification(s) Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut or Connecticut license eligible. Current CPR certification.

Unit Description: The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) provides close observation, support and clinical care for the critically ill. The unit was designed by our ICU staff to provide enhanced workflow and encourage family support in a healing environment. There are 14 private rooms all within steps of the large nurses' station for better visualization. The unit provides holistic care using a multidisciplinary approach for critically ill patients requiring advanced monitoring and intensive treatment for:
Respiratory/ventilatory care
Cardiac/hemodynamic monitoring/temporary pacing/IABP therapy
Observation and support due to drug overdose or poisoning
Advanced care due to medication therapy
Multiple trauma
Major surgical procedures

Qualifications:
1. Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
2. Currently licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.
3. Two years of prior ICU experience required.
4. BLS or ACLS required with ACLS certification within 6 months of hire.
5. Successful completion of AACN Essentials of Critical Care Course and exams within one month of employment or have proof of completion of prior critical care training.
6. RN's with previous critical care experience are required to successfully pass the Critical Care Challenge Exam with an 80%.
7. Current CCRN certification fulfills requirement of challenge exam.
8. Completion of PALS for assigned ICU RN within two years.
9. Completion of TNCC (Trauma Nurse Care Course) or TCAR (Trauma Care After Resuscitation) within one year.
10. Meets requirements of physical/pre-placement screening.
As applicable, the individual has training/competency in attending to the special needs and/or behaviors appropriate to the age of the patients for which care is being provided.

Position Summary

Overview
In 1971, Yale University established Yale Health to provide health services to its facility, staff and students through a multidisciplinary health maintenance organization located on campus. Our state-of-the-art facility at 55 Lock Street, is where our members receive most of their care from our 150+ providers. It is a 144,000 square foot medical facility with over 90 exam rooms, an Acute Care Department, a 15-bed inpatient facility with two negative pressure rooms, a diagnostic imaging suite including MR and CT scan, x-ray and ultrasound and a full-service retail pharmacy.
Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, the RN oversees daily operations of the Pediatric Clinic with heavy emphasis on safe patient care and best clinical practices to ensure that the department's standards of patient care are consistently and continuously met. The RN assumes responsibility for incoming and follow-up patient calls that require clinical decisions and for evaluation and disposition of walk-in patients; provides care and treatment to patients per clinician's order and standing orders (CDC, ACIP and Yale Health standing orders), performs procedures at the direction of clinicians and maintains adequate vaccine stock. Position may provide direct nursing care and support in other clinics, as necessary.
Schedule: Full time, 37.50 hours/week, generally scheduled M-F, between the hours of 8:30 am - 5:00 pm. Early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays/recess also required. Flexible scheduling during annual Flu Clinics and may rotate to other departments such as Acute Care as needed.
Required Skills and Abilities:
1. Demonstrated ability in an ambulatory or inpatient pediatric care facility. Well developed assessment, critical thinking skills and the ability to use sound independent judgment.
2. Excellent organizational skills in order to effectively manage multiple priorities.
3. Computer proficiency related to the use of an electronic medical record.
4. Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work effectively and respectfully with a diverse population and as part of a collaborative and supportive team.
5. Excellent attendance, punctuality and reliability.
Preferred Skills and Abilities
Three years' Pediatric experience; competent triage skills, and proficiency in Epic.
