Do you have experience in food processing and have a knack for operating machinery? Our Salem Headquarters is looking for 2 experienced Packaging Machine Operators for flexible shifts. Must be able to stand for up to 12 hours a day. We have 1 position open on Swing Shift 3:00 PM-11:30 PM and 1 on Graveyard 11:00 PM-7:30 AM.
Responsibilities:
Perform process area sanitation.
Prepare process area for operation start up. This includes but not limited to Products, Packaging Material, Equipment Adjustment, Palletizing.
Operate semi-automated Portion Pack Filling equipment & all other filling equipment to fill product containers.
Place filled containers for shipping cartons, Palletize & Stage them for transferring to warehouse.
Monitor filling equipment to ensure proper operation & adjust equipment as necessary for continuous operation.
Inspect filled containers & cartons to ensure compliance with company set standards, State & Federal regulations.
Initiate filling equipment adjustment & change over as needed.
Hold all matters related to the corporation in confidence.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Must be able to:
Knowledgeable, able, & willing to be Certified by Oregon State for Acidified Food Handler.
Complete Filler Operating Instruction Course provided by Yamasa & satisfies all necessary requirements.
Read & comprehend instructions, informational manuals, able to write & verbally communicate process reports to the supervisor & coworkers in English language.
Work in a food manufacturing sanitary work area without posing a threat to product sanitation & safety.
Tolerate exposure to cleaning agents commonly used in the food manufacturing process area.
Demonstrate adequate manual dexterity to perform assigned tasks.
Work flexible shift time.
Work without extensive supervision.
Perform mathematical calculations for addition, subtraction, multiply & divide fractions correctly.

Monitor and document process parameter changes as assigned
Communicate test results and observations to operations and management to maintain process and product conformance
Monitor and record consumption and inventory of raw materials (wax, resin, etc.).
Verify quality of raw materials as required
Support preventive and unscheduled maintenance tasks.
Assist in process and product tests/trials.
Be pro-active in identifying and performing other tasks to maintain and improve safety, quality and environmental performance
Demonstrate adherence to process and product SOPs, JSAs, check sheets and other QMS documentation
Provide support to team members when a quality issue arises
Demonstrate drive and willingness to advance to higher levels of responsibility
Perform in a relief capacity for production coordinator

Required Qualifications
Associate's Degree and two years of experience in laboratory work, quality control, or general manufacturing; or an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience
Knowledge of and ability to follow all quality and process standards
Demonstrated ability to operate a computer and supporting software, to include spreadsheet and statistical packages
Working knowledge of manufacturing equipment and production processes
Demonstrated ability to operate sample preparation and testing equipment
Knowledge of inventory management
Excellent verbal and written communication as well as interpersonal skills
Proficient math skills and statistical knowledge, including concepts
Demonstrated ability to operate a variety of material handling equipment (both hand tools and electrical/motorized equipment)
Ability to climb stairs and lift up to 50 pounds
Demonstrated ability to work while wearing a respirator and/or other safety clothing or equipment
Preferred Qualifications
Associate degree in Forest Products, Engineering, Wood Science or related scientific field preferred
Three (3) years plywood, composite, or engineered wood manufacturing experience

Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
Willing and able to work overtime, weekends, on-call, rotating shifts, and holidays
Experience with reading blueprints and precision measurements
Troubleshooting experience
Experience using a computer for record keeping and documentation
Able to work in extreme heat/cold, navigate catwalks and ladders
