**Responsibilities**
This position will support the Springfield Transportation domicile that handles the retail freight of Bob Evans Farms.
Our Yard Hostlers must have a valid Class A CDL along with a driving record free of any DOT recordable accidents within the past 18 months. Yard Hostlers will also be expected to occasionally perform dock work, when needed.
- Yard Hostlers are required to possess a valid Class A CDL along with a clean driving record
- You will adhere to all company safety policies, and complete all assigned safety refresher courses on a quarterly basis
- Bob Evans Transportation values safety in the workplace and holds all employees responsible for a safe and healthy work environment.
- 100% compliance with all DOT and FMCSA regulations
- Must complete annual FDA training relative to the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA)
- Proper logging of hours of service within the electronic log platform
- Performing thorough pre and post trip inspections on your assigned yard truck
- Potential for dock work within our refrigerated cooler in Springfield (requires Powered Industrial Truck certification)
- Shuttling of equipment from our satellite yards to warehouse dock doors, or movement of equipment on the Bob Evans yard in Springfield
- Washing and sanitation of our reefer trailers during downtime
**Qualifications**
- Must perform yard checks; which encompasses temperature validations, verifying load contents, fuel levels, etc.
- Inspection of freight and loading conditions prior to signing outbound Bill of Lading documents
- Trailer cleanliness inspections
- Completion of daily vehicle inspection reports (DVIR)
- Proper reviews of all requisite shipping documents for pre-loaded outbound shipments
- Documentation of trailer pre-cool temperatures and setpoints
- Maintaining a clean and safe work environment in both our cross dock and drop lots
- Fueling of trailers on our drop lots in Springfield
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 1+ year experience with handling refrigerated freight
- 2+ years experience as a Class A CDL operator
- Yard truck experience

Summary/Objective
The Yard Manager manages a small team, ensuring smooth operations and upkeep of the stone yard while working in a fast-paced environment. This is a working manager position, and thus the Yard Manager operates a variety of equipment, including forklifts and skid steers. Additionally, the Yard Manager is responsible for organizing various types of stone, maintaining the cleanliness of the property, shipping and receiving, and assisting customers.

Yard Persons CDL A are responsible to assist in performing duties to insure the proper and safe handling of products from the production areas to yard storage. Also, to insure a smooth and safe flow of products from the storage areas onto trailer for shipments to jobsites. You will be assisting in items such as stripping products, yarding products and loading products on trailers and storing products out in the yard. CDL is required as you will be operating trucks to store products (about 10% of your day is driving in the yard)
Ideal candidates will be able to work Monday - Friday starting at 6:00 am - Finish.
Starts at $21.00 and increases based on experience. Overtime/time and a half starts after 8 hours worked each day.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

Position Overview:
Incumbent is responsible for moving trailers in and out of the loading and receiving door locations and managing overall yard organization. This position may also be filled as a Lead Yard Driver.

Responsibilities
Moves tractor/trailers to and from loading / receiving doors of the Distribution Center.
Perform visual inspection of shuttle trailers for road readiness.
Direct all drivers to the correct/assigned door.
Park trucks and/or trailers.
Check fluid levels (fuel) - notify supervisor if low. Enter fuel amounts into computer on tractor.
Inform Supervisor of backhauls - refer to backhaul list.
Set up shuttles.
Inform supervisor of breakdowns in equipment. Contain spills and inform supervisor. Report equipment defects. Check that all wheel chock blocks are being used.
Perform temperature checks on trailers for freezer and cooler. Make sure temps are set correctly and maintained.
Be sure all pallet trailers are in good condition and safe to be moved. Tag out-of-service trailers and/or move to appropriate storage location.
Respond to requests in a timely manner for trailer moves in and out of doors.
Maintain accurate route sheet calling out new trailers, out-of-service trailers and trailers returning to service.
Provide coverage for shuttle and route services as needed (Class A required).
All other related yard tasks (cranking landing gear, etc)
Qualifications
CDL Class A License preferred, minimum six (6) months driving experience
Current medical card required
Must have a clean motor vehicle record (MVR) in accordance with DCP guidelines for hiring
Must be able to operate a manual and automatic transmission tractor
On Board Computer/Electronic Log System Experience preferred
Ability to work well with little supervision
Ability to interact well with all employees

Random drug testing for all colleagues will be conducted on a monthly or semi-monthly basis, depending upon factors including but not limited to the size of the facility and the number of colleagues on roll. Colleagues will be randomly selected for testing by a third party. Testing must be completed on the same workday the colleague is informed of selection for testing, absent extenuating circumstances. In all circumstances, testing must be completed within 24 hours of notification.
