• High school diploma or equivalency plus 1 year of experience
• Ability to regularly lift and/or move more than 60 pounds (lbs.) repetitively

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong communication skills – written, verbal, persuasion, motivation, facilitation of strong working relationships
• Knowledge of other MS Office Suite and/or software applications related to job functions
• Excellent interpersonal, customer service, analytical/problem solving, problem management, presentation development, presentation, and communications skills
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to fumes
• Knowledge using hand-held scanners, Truck/Trailer loading, operating lift machines, driving, and parking tractor-trailer
• Knowledge of basic mathematical concepts (addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, percentages, etc.)
• Knowledge of applicable driving rules and regulations
• Knowledge of Department of Transportation rules and regulations
• Knowledge of the delivery area and alternate routes

JOB SUMMARY

Operate industrial trucks or tractors equipped to move materials and/or trailers around a warehouse, storage yard, factory, construction site, or similar location.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Move levers or controls that operate lifting devices, to move or transport loaded/unloaded trailers.
• Inspect load for safety and safely move it around the warehouse or facility to ensure timely and complete delivery.
• Position lifting devices under trailer for transport to designated areas.
• Manually or mechanically load or unload materials from pallets, skids, platforms, cars, lifting devices, or other transport vehicles.
• Move controls to drive gasoline- or electric-powered trucks, cars, or tractors and transport materials between loading, processing, and storage areas.
• Perform routine maintenance on vehicles or auxiliary equipment, such as cleaning, lubricating, recharging batteries, fueling, or replacing liquefied-gas tank.
• Weigh materials or products and record weight or other production data on tags or labels.
• Signal workers to operate safely around trailers and vehicles.
• Hook tow trucks to trailer hitches and fasten attachments, using hitch pins.
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma
• 1 - 3 years relevant experience
• CDL class A or B
• Air Brake endorsement
• Completion of Commercial Driving School
• OSHA training as required
• Company specific training as required
• Warehouse experience a plus

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Requires frequent walking, carrying, reaching, standing, and stooping.
• Requires lifting/lowering, pushing, or pulling of various items of varying weight.

Job DescriptionOnTrac is hiring Hostlers!

OnTrac hostlers are responsible for safely positioning and maneuvering trailers to and from the dock. Experience driving a yard goat and moving trailers into and out of parking spaces, as well as, backing into dock doors preferred.


Shift:
Monday - Friday 2:00PM to 10:30 PM (Hours subject to change based on business needs)

What you will do as our next Hostler:

• Maintain and contribute to a safe work environment by adhering to policies and procedures as outlined in the Company Safety Program.
• Properly pre-trip and inspect each trailer to meet DOT compliance standards
• Correctly position trailers on the dock using a yard switcher tractor
• Switching trailers as needed during the daily sort
• Hook up sets of trailers for line hauls leaving the facility
• Clearly communicate all trailer moves and trailer numbers with ops management
• Perform any other task or assignment as deemed necessary by the organization, including the daily sort

What you will need to be successful:

• The ability to read and understand English and apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manual.
• Ability to work at a consistent rate performing highly physical work.
• Ability to work and make yard moves with the big picture in mind (yard awareness)
• High school Diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; or one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of both. Minimum one year driving experience.
• Clean driving record required.
• Candidates must successfully complete all pre-employment screenings and background check.
• Candidates must be at least 18 years old, possess valid identification, and be able to pass a TSA screening.
