As a Yard Spotter Driver , you will be responsible for using the yard spotter to transfer trailers back and forth between production facility and warehouse. The Yard Spotter will also assist with the daily processes of the warehouse.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Move trailers on property with yard spotter when transfers are needed.
  • Loading and unloading of trailers in warehouse.
  • Picking and setting of Raw Materials/Packaging for Manufacturing.
  • Movement of Components from Inventory for Assembly.
  • Disposition of finished goods to Warehouse Inventory.
  • Mixing/Blending of Raw Materials (Resin/Colorants).
  • Cycle Counting of Warehouse Inventory.
  • Complete Electronic Transfers within the ERP System.
  • Daily involvement with the Shipping Department coordinating outbound shipments to customers.
  • Coordination with the Receiving Department regarding inbound purchases for Manufacturing.
  • Any other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • CDL is required.
  • Valid, current, and clean driving record.
  • Three to five years of experience within a warehouse setting to accomplish essential duties, or accrued on-the-job training and experience.
  • Yard spotter experience is a plus.
  • Prior knowledge of ERP systems preferred.
  • Able to work independently.
  • Prior forklift experience

Cass-Clay® Creamery yard spotter job description

Cass Clay Creamery is looking to fill a unique role that works as a Cooler Worker/Yard Driver Relief *Class A required. This role will work overnights in the cooler, but act as our back up yard spotter when needed. There is some driving on public roads to pick up trailers or delivery to vendors/customers.
$6,000 Sign-on Bonus

Pay: $25.51

Cooler Shift: Sunday: 8:00pm to 5:00am

Monday - Thursday: 9:00pm to 5:30am

* If coving yard - hours will change

General Purpose:

Duel role - Cooler worker and Relief Yard driver.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Cooler positions consist of 4 different positions - South Track, North Track, Merge Point, and Pallet Operator.

The South Track employee is responsible for filling orders of all crated products except gallons. The North Track employee is responsible for filling orders of gallon products. Both the South and North Track employees place the correct number of items in a crate or on the tracks according to order specifications. Items can be handled by the stacks, crates or single items. When handling stacks, the employee will slide up to 6 crates at a time onto the track using a hook.

The Merge Point employee offers the final check for quality and quantity assurance. They combine/reorganize crates to allow for appropriate stacking on pallets. This employee will handle individual products, crates, stacks, and run the controls at the merge point.

The Pallet Jack Operator uses an electric pallet jack and palletizer to palletize, wrap and load the products. Once the machine automatically loads the stacks on the pallet, the operator will hand load the cardboard and plastic wrapped products on top. The operator will load the pallets onto the trailers.

As a yard Driver:

Moving trailers into bay, around the plant and will include picking up from vendors/customer. Other duties as assigned, include: Check yardman box daily -- located in drivers room (special instructions). Inspect all trucks you drive daily: fill out and turn in Drivers Vehicle Insp. Report daily. Fill out Dispatch and Trip Report form every time you drive a yard tractor or semi All miles driven in Minnesota are tracked. Check *antifreeze *engine *transmission *oil in *yard tractor, *semi, *truck or *company vehicle you drive -- if it need to be filled, changed or cannot be on the road -- tag it! When filling fuel: yard tractors use highway taxed fuel and the trailers use tax exempt fuel. *All receipts must be signed by you and have unit number on them.

* Walk around and inspect every trailer that is to be used: Things to check: *oil, *antifreeze, *fuel, *tires, *suspension, and make sure temp is set correctly as well as the trailer to insure the temperature is maintained. If something is found, report it to the garage mechanic to be fixed.
* After hours report to supervisor on duty.
* Inspect for and report all damage found to the Transportation Managers in the transportation office or after hours to supervisor on duty.
* Report any damage "Large or Small" you have done, to the Transportation Managers or to night supervisor immediately.
* On the 25th of month start writing down ALL refer hours. Turn in report by end of each month. This is for every shift. I need all trailer hours monthly.
* Place all paperwork, fuel receipts, fuel reports and DVIR's in box labled "YARDMAN" in drivers room daily.
* Legibly sign and write unit # on fuel receipts.
* On the 5th of each month check that every trailer has a current registration, and a current DOT inspection paper in the compartment on the trailer. Put note in yardman box for anything missing.
* Keep an empty trailer in lot for wholesale drivers to unload empties in every day.
* Do not drive across lot or down the street with trailer doors open. Only open when you are ready to back in dock. It is very easy for them to come unhooked and swing into a car or person.
* Do not leave doors open on trailers that are parked in lot. They get dirty.
* Wash empty trailers when they are dirty and as directed.
* NEVER remove red tags from trailers unless you have permission to do so.
* NEVER park working trailers in out of service area.
* Yard tractor can go to Moorhead to get jugs but make sure trailers are towed in the lowest position, not raised.
* Report accidents and any damage that you become aware of to any supervisor immedately. Even if it was not done by you.
* Notify the mechanic as soon as you are aware of any vehicels or equipment is in need of repairs.
* NEVER move cones or parking signs in order to park someplace. Ask transportation managers first.
* Comply to all DOT mandated regulations, physuical requirements and assocated paperwork that needs to be completed
* Responsible for keeping all equipment clean and in working order at all times.
* Report red tagged equipment to the shop or transportation managers so "a plan to fix" gets put in place.
* Plan ahead to get trailers unloaded in time to be reloaded.
* Any other responsibilities that may be assigned

Requirements

* High school diploma or GED is preferred.
* Must have a valid Class A Driver License (CDL) and have general knowledge of State and Federal motor carrier regulations.
* Must be able to pass a pre-hire road test.
* Must be able to hook and unhook trailer as needed, Good Backing up skills required
* Ability to use simple writing, adding, subtracting and multiplication.
* Must be able to read, write, understand and speak English
* Needs to have a safe clean driving record
* Ability to carry out instructions.
