Sit for or successfully passed a national licensing exam. Skills and Attributes: Demonstrate a strong foundation in science, effective communication skills, and a genuine compassion for animals. Be detail-oriented, capable of multitasking, and able to handle the emotional aspects of working in animal healthcare. Certification and Licensure: Meet state licensing requirements via certification. Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE) is a common requirement. Depending on state, earned a title of “Registered (RVT)”, “Licensed (LVT)” or “Certified (CVT)”. Complete continuing education to maintain licensure.
