Key Responsibilities - Service Technician
The position involves the setting and testing of automation machinery prior to despatch, commissioning in customer's factories and the training of operator and maintenance personnel in the use of their equipment.
Duties - Service Technician
Setting and testing of the client's full range of equipment.
Final testing and assembly of machinery in preparation of inspection and despatch.
Installation and Commissioning of equipment.
Training of customer's staff at various levels at both the client's and customer's overseas premises.
Report writing and recommendations following all visits.
Liaise with Sales, Production and Design.
Some Worldwide travel including weekend work & travel where required.
To ensure that all relevant machine documentation is always completed accurately.
To identify opportunities for process, productivity and quality improvements by highlighting issues to management.
To actively participate in improvement projects as required.
Develop effective relationships with all internal and external stakeholder, customers and suppliers.
Qualifications & Requirements - Service Technician
Must have completed a recognised Engineering Apprenticeship.
Mechanically based skillset with a proven track record of mechanical assembly and fault diagnosis.
Able to use measuring equipment such as Micrometre and Vernier callipers with an attention to detail.
Able to read and interpret mechanical assembly drawings.
Able to read and interpret pneumatic drawings and circuits. Fault find pneumatic circuits to component level.
Basic understanding of electrical control circuits.
Basic understanding of PLC Machine controls.
Able to write concise informative reports and offer solutions to problems.
Self-motivated and enthusiastic and able to communicate at all levels.
Must hold a valid passport and be willing to travel internationally and be very flexible in terms of working hours and travel.
Comply with the latest vaccinations, inoculations and blood tests for foreign travel.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. To perform routine repairs and provide preventative maintenance on all heating, ventilating and air conditioning equipment located in campus buildings, dormitories, townhouses, apartment complex and the Central Utilities Facilities complex. This involves:
Maintaining air handling units with filter replacements, pneumatic controls, exhaust fans, etc.
Familiarity with and ability to read electrical and mechanical Drawings.
Familiarity with low voltage controls and motor controls; familiarity with DDC controls (e.g., Alterton and Carrier Comfortworks),
Ensuring the adequate operation, temperature, pressure and safety of equipment,
Notifying supervisor of any abnormal pressures and temperatures before adjusting.

Essential Job Duties:
1. Assist in maintaining and operating site mechanical equipment, site air compressors, site centrifugal water chillers, and site steam boilers, to provide utilities, such as heat, chilled water (HVAC), and compressed air for buildings and site processes. 2. Ability to reasonably perform operations on a site computerized building management systems (BMS) to verify proper operating conditions of various site equipment. 3. Possess a basic knowledge of facility HVAC systems such as chillers, boilers, air handling equipment, piping, pumps, and other components. Monitor performance of site HVAC related equipment and inform management of potential problems.
4. Possess the ability to reasonably analyzes and troubleshoot HVAC equipment and / or system deficiencies and problems. Replace defective parts, re-assemble affected equipment, and tests for proper operation, and return to service.
5. Perform preventive maintenance (PM's) as scheduled on facility HVAC equipment as required by the site recurring computerized maintenance management program (CMMP) (changing filters, belts, and lubrication, etc.).
6. Possess a reasonably competent ability to read, and comprehend facility drawings, schematics, related to the HVAC structure of the site.
7. Possess a reasonable basic knowledge of maintaining an on-site water treatment program. Responsibilities entail periodic testing of boiler and cooling tower water quality and maintaining the water treatment chemical inventory in conjunction with the sites water treatment contractor.
8. Ability to work effectively with outside vendors, contractors when necessary to resolve HVAC equipment or HVAC system problems. Confer with other contracted or in-house trades to assist in resolving site HVAC related problems or equipment malfunctions.
9. Maintain necessary work records including equipment records, logs, and time sheets as required.
10. Have basic experience with, and or knowledge of an organized company lock-out / tag-out program. (Compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.147 control of hazardous energy).
11. Ability to operate and manipulate a boomed manlift (JLG, Genie Lift) is highly desirable.

* Measure, cut, thread, or bend pipe/tubing using pipe fitter's tools.

Required Education/Experience:

As a
Refrigeration & Air Condition Mechanic
you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
Responsible for installing, modifying, moving, troubleshooting, repairing, decommissioning and disposal, calibrating, and making adjustments to heating, ventilating, air conditioning, refrigeration, and climate control systems used in production, laboratory, office and utility areas. Compliance with 3M's CFC Management Policy.
Know and apply the operating principles, purpose, proper application and design limitations of electrical, electronic, and pneumatic controls, and mechanical appliances such as chillers, compressors, cooling towers, pumps, flow meters, fans, thermostats, humidistats, heat exchangers, and recorders.
Use building automation systems (BAS) to operate, monitor, and troubleshoot HVAC equipment to ensure systems are operating as designed. Use trending and alarming functions to troubleshoot and notify personnel of equipment malfunctions. Use PLC and DDC system fundamentals to repair HVAC equipment.
Read and work to the indicated accuracy, specifications and tolerances as detailed on engineering drawings, machine assembly prints, machine construction prints, blueprints, sketches, equipment manuals, process flow diagrams, and vendor diagrams.
Test and treat water circulation systems associated with HVAC systems such as cooling tower, chilled water, and radiant heat systems to prevent corrosion, scaling, and biological growth. Troubleshoot and make repairs to chemical injection systems to maintain desired chemical treatment levels. Determine required chemical treatment requirements and perform manual additions to systems without automated treatment systems.
Set up, operate and read precision testing and measuring instruments to the instrument manufacturer's specifications and to the degree of accuracy required. Precision testing and measuring instruments include devices such as leak detectors, pressure gages, thermometers, psychrometers, velometers, and similar instruments.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Minimum of two (2) years of Industrial HVAC/R experience OR five (5) years of residential HVAC/R experience.
Possess a two (2) year technical degree or diploma from an accredited institution in Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (completed and verified prior to start) OR possess minimum of five (5) years of Industrial HVAC/R experience.
Universal CFC Management Certification.
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
Basic mathematics and basic computer skills.
Knowledge of the operating principles of mechanical, pneumatic, and electro-mechanical components used in the measurement and control of temperature, humidity and air flow.
Knowledge of local codes governing piping systems.
Knowledge of CFC Management and required documentation and filing procedures in accordance with state and federal regulations.
Skill in operating and using hand tools, wrenches, air and electric powered portable hand tools, machine tools, and a variety of testing equipment; reading and interpreting measurement instruments; troubleshooting equipment malfunctions
Pay & Benefits:
The starting rate of pay for this position is $44.67.
This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience. 1) HVAC SERVICE TECHNICIANS:
Hourly pay is $22.00-$38.00. Pay is negotiable based on experience!
- Must have minimum of 5 years in HVAC.
- Have the ability to work Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm OR 7am-4pm. OR Wednesday-Sunday shift/off Monday & Tuesday. We can be flexible for work life balance but need someone who can work 40 hours a week.
- Any time worked over 40 hours a week is time and a half.
- Have your own basic hand tools.
- Must have a valid driver license.
2) PLUMBING SERVICE TECHS
Hourly pay is $22.00-$35.00. Pay is negotiable based on experience!
Plumbing technicians will need a minimum of 5 years experience in a Plumbing Service Tech role - troubleshooting, problem solving, installing, repair and maintaining.
- Must have experience in hot water heaters, snaking lines, running supply lines, installing/repairing faucets, cartridges, running PVC, running PEX, sweating copper, installing/repairing shower valves, bathtubs, sinks and toilets.
- Have the ability to work Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm OR 7am-4pm. OR Wednesday-Sunday shift/off Monday & Tuesday. We can be flexible for work life balance but need someone who can work 40 hours a week.
- Have the ability to lift and carry up to 100lbs. consistently.
- Must have your own basic hand tools.
- Valid driver license.
3) LABOR:
Hourly pay is $15.00-$22.00. Pay is negotiable based on experience!
Will be helping assist with HVAC, plumbing and construction jobs.
Can consist of: digging up and running sewer lines, roofing, HVAC installs, construction clean up.
Any heavy equipment operation is a plus! (Excavators, back hoes, running snakes.)
- Must have own transportation to drive to different job sites all over Kansas City, MO & KS.
- Must be ready to work with can do attitude.
- Dependability with strong work ethic.
- Ability to learn and take initiative, jump in.
- Opportunity to learn while working on HVAC/Plumbing/Construction jobs.
- Have the ability to work Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm OR 7am-4pm. Some weekends if you want OT. Optional.
We have steady work all year round with 40 + hours a week and this is a long term position - not temporary.
