YMCA of Greater Nashua company history timeline
He later took over in the early 1980’s as the longtime head coach. It all started in 1968.
The team continued swimming strong through the years with an average size of 80 swimmers. “There was a whole shelf of trophies,” recalls Karen Thomas (former Prospectors and STORM swim parent). By 1983, the Prospectors won ten NH YMCA Championships in a row.
In 1999, there was a group of about twenty kids who began swimming as an unofficial swim team, calling themselves the Marlins.
They needed a coach, so the new Aquatics Director, Amy Doyle, began coaching them in September 2000.
In 2003, he was promoted to CEO for the YMCA of Greater Nashua.
Elizabeth Covino joined the YMCA of Greater Nashua in 2013 overseeing development and marketing.
Mike LaChance celebrated 25 years of working for the YMCA of Greater Nashua in 2018.
In 2018, Mike received the NH Governor’s Council on Physical Activity and Health – Outstanding Achievement Award.
Additionally, the Y opened the Westwood Park YMCA in northwest Nashua in April of 2019.
Julianne Simendinger joined the YMCA of Greater Nashua as Chief Development Officer in April, 2020.
