Thorough knowledge of important aspects of custodial maintenance, including custodial supplies and cleaning chemicals. Familiarity with applicable health and safety regulations. Degree or certification in custodial maintenance or related field preferred. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs/23 kgs. Supervise a crew of custodians by interviewing prospects, providing training, creating schedules, assisting in performance management and assigning individual tasks. Make decisions, under the direction of the manager, on proper equipment, techniques, chemicals and maintenance of church buildings. Maintain discipline, performance and morale among custodians. Monitor physical condition of all areas and reports maintenance and repair needs to manager. Initiate orders for custodial supplies and stay within budget. Perform custodial work including but not limited to: vacuuming, dusting, mopping; cleaning kitchen/cafeteria, restrooms, carpets and upholstery; and washing windows.

* Ensures Y is attractive and clean by completing all duties listed on the daily schedule and maintains upkeep of assigned area and equipment. May perform wet and dust mopping, dusting, trash removal, recycling, window washing, pool cleaning, painting, vacuuming, seasonal activities dealing with lawn care and snow removal, and general cleaning. * Operates related motorized and non-motorized equipment. * Records and reports all needed repairs; repairs as directed. * Ensures YMCA building and property is secure during shift and report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor. * Replaces soap, paper towels, and other supplies. * May set up furniture for events. * Performs all other duties as assigned.
