Under the guidance of the Head Coach the Swim Team Assistant Coach is responsible to support the implementation of the Competitive and/or Recreational Swimming Program following the YMCA Philosophy, Aquatic Guidelines, and the YMCA Competitive Sports Guidelines. The Assistant Coach will be helping to implement instruction to swimmers throughout the swim season and during swim clinic. Support the YMCA vision to strengthen the foundations of the community thorough programs for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. FaithBridge Youth Opportunities is a program assisting former foster and homeless youth to achieve their dreams for the future through vocational training, financial assistance, and supportive care. Youth Opportunities operates under FaithBridge Foster Care, Georgia's largest Christ-centered foster care agency (a non-profit organization) located in metro Atlanta. At the heart of the Youth Opportunities Program is the role of the Life Coach. The Youth Opportunities Life Coach is our unique version of the case management role serving youth who have aged out of foster care or who may be homeless. A Life Coach works closely in support of the needs of youth between the ages of 17 and 26 who are pursuing their post-secondary education or vocational training. The Life Coach assists in managing their intake and admission to FaithBridge Youth Opportunities. The Life Coach walks alongside the youth as they seek to enroll in school, obtain vocational training, seek employment, gain necessary life skills, and begin to live life as a successful adult. A Life Coach also is responsible for administering and ensuring the youth's monthly support needs are met and documented in the appropriate data system. As a Youth Sports Official, you will: Officiate youth sports games in accordance with YMCA policies and sport-specific rules. Teach basic game skills, encourage good sportsmanship, and maintain a fun, safe environment. Promote a positive and respectful attitude toward competition-keeping the "win at all costs" mindset out of the game. Communicate with participants and parents to reinforce the YMCA's goals and values. Inspect play areas for safety, enforce rules, and respond appropriately to injuries or emergencies. Serve as a visible leader, role model, and resource for players, families, and volunteers. Requirements Skills & Experience: Knowledge of youth sports rules and fundamentals (soccer, basketball, flag football, etc.). Experience working with children or in a youth sports setting preferred. Strong communication and leadership skills. Ability to remain calm, fair, and professional in all game-day situations. Certifications (required within 60 days of hire): CPR/AED and First Aid Certification Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry equipment regularly. NATURE AND SCOPE: Under the supervision and guidance of the Sports Director or Coordinator, the Contract Referee is responsible for officiating youth, teen or adult sporting events including, but not limited to: baseball, basketball, soccer, volleyball, etc. This position requires individuals to monitor play, ensure safety of all coaches and participants. The Contract Referee will be responsible for signing an independent contractor agreement. RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensure the health, safety and well-being of children in the program by providing close supervision of all activities. Ensure that the rules of the games are being followed by all players and coaches. Officiate events according to general rules of the sport as well as any rules specific to the YMCA of Metro Atlanta. Responsible for inspecting equipment and/or participants to ensure safety standards are met. Displays regular attendance and punctuality. Shows up to scheduled games on time and stays for the duration unless prior arrangements have been made with the supervisor. Must perform duties in accordance with the policies, goals, mission, values, and objectives established by the YMCA of Metro Atlanta Branch Strategic Plan, Safety Protocols, Member Services Guidelines, and Non-Negotiables. Emphasis will be placed on member service, program knowledge, member/staff safety, and communication with members and staff. Implements the YMCA safety protocol both related to branch operations. Immediately reports problems, inappropriate situations or behaviors to Sports Monitor and/or Director. Responds to safety and emergency situations and maintains/reports accurate incident/accident forms. Listens to concerns, answers questions and addresses coaches, players, and parents in a calm, fair and professional manner. REQUIREMENTS: Exemplify and accept YMCA values, ideals, leadership qualities, and professional image. Must maintain required knowledge and certifications necessary for this position and complete all training deemed necessary by the YMCA of Metro Atlanta.
