Essential Functions:
Orient members and guests to the use and purpose of available equipment.
Demonstrate proper techniques, and communicate expected results, for each exercise and equipment use.
Communicate key building blocks in exercise routines including cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength, endurance, and flexibility.
Maintains records and accounts of front desk membership and program sales maintain area for cleanliness; identify and report all potential safety hazards.
Generate personalized exercise programs and workout cards for each participant.
Identify and incorporate new fitness procedures and trends.
Assist in the communication of Wellness Center new classes, programs, and activities.
Help open the building with light cleaning duties.
Hours will be 4:45am to 9am.

Ensures the safety of every pool patron through education, vigilant preventative guarding, first aid, emergency medical services, and rescue services

JOB DETAILS: We are an outdoor camp, located on beautiful, wooded property in Dover, MA. The regular camp day runs from 8:30 - 4:00, Monday - Friday, for the camp season*. In addition, Specialists are expected to attend 4 staff meetings on Monday afternoons at Camp and/or evenings at JCC Greater Boston. Specialists also work a Sunday Family Day on Sunday, July 26 and/or 1 or 2 evenings (dinner provided!) over the course of the summer - either running their activity or assisting with a family day, night or cookout, depending on their position in camp. Offering great perks, including JCC Health & Fitness center access, a supportive, vibrant in-person work environment, and a competitive starting pay rate of $16 per hour. The pay rate offered will ultimately be determined by relevant qualifications, experience and JCC's internal equity.
*The regular camp season begins June 29 and ends August 21 (with the option to work the following “9th Week” as well). All Staff Orientation begins with a virtual orientation on June 14 and then continues in person (with different hours and no transportation provided) June 24,25 and 26. Visiting Day (a pre-camp visit for all campers and families to meet staff) on Sunday, June 28 and is mandatory for all staff. Specialists may also meet 1 or 2 times (most likely virtually) in June for additional Orientation.
While we strongly prefer staff who can start Orientation Week and work the entire 8-week regular season, we are happy to consider quality candidates who may have conflicting obligations.

Unit Heads are the heart of camp leadership, helping to ensuring the camp day runs smoothly to maximize fun while keeping everyone safe. They serve as the primary leader, mentor, and support system for their unit. Unit Heads provide ongoing guidance to staff, manage camper well-being and behavior, uphold camp policies and traditions, and model excellence in leadership. Assistant Division Leaders / Unit Heads may oversee specific age-groups (Grades 4-8) and/or specialized program areas (e.g., Tennis and Sports). Each Unit is comprised of about 100 - 120 campers and 25 - 30 Counselors.
JCC Greater Boston offers free bus service for staff from Cambridge, Brookline, Jamaica Plain, West Roxbury, Wayland, Framingham, Natick, Needham, Newton and Wellesley during the summer season.

Inclusion Coordinators are part of our camp's Inclusion Team, supervising and coordinating Advocate Camp Counselors, who work directly with campers with disabilities and individualized needs. Guided by ICPs (Individual Camper Plans) and supported by our Inclusion Team, Advocate Counselors partner with co-counselors to ensure that every camper is safe, supported, and fully included in their bunk and camp activities. The Inclusion Coordinator provides expertise and support, modifying ICPs as needed and facilitating communication between camp staff and families of campers receiving support.
What you will do each day:
Each morning, you'll connect with camp staff and campers, making sure all feel welcomed and ready for the day. You'll support campers in joining their bunk for activities - whether that means going over visual schedules or providing other tools, coaching or support. Throughout the day, you'll model patience, empathy, and creativity as you help campers navigate challenges and celebrate successes. You'll work closely with camp staff to adapt supports as needed. Coordinate and manage packing sessions at the Dartmouth Y and mobile markets at YMCA Southcoast (YSC) branches and St. Marys Catholic Parish in Dartmouth.
Supervise FPP part-time employees and volunteers.
Move, organize, and inventory food supplies upon delivery from the Greater Boston Food Bank (GBFB), Tourtellot, United Way, or other partner agencies.
Drive the FPP truck to mobile markets, housing sites, and community events.
Ensure the truck is maintained properly including annual inspection.
Responsible for the overall operation of the FPP, including organization, sanitation, and compliance with all food safety requirements, GBFB policies, and YSC procedures.
Generate and distribute monthly work plans and weekly volunteer plans.
Establish and maintain good working relationships with community partner organizations.
Order food from GBFB to meet program needs.
Create, compile, and maintain records. Generate reports and statistics for GBFB, YSC, and grant applications/reports, among others.
Participate in GBFB agency calls, Y-USA Anti-Hunger group and local hunger relief meetings.
