JOB DETAILS: We are an outdoor camp, located on beautiful, wooded property in Dover, MA. This is an hourly position, Monday - Friday, for the camp season*. The regular Camp day begins when you arrive at Camp (typically between 8:45 and 9:15) and ends at 4pm. In addition, most staff are expected to attend 3 or 4 staff meetings on Monday afternoons at Camp and/or evenings at JCC Greater Boston. Activity Specialist Assistants also work one Sunday and/or 1 or 2 additional evenings (dinner provided!) over the course of the summer- either assisting in their activity or assisting with a Family Day or Night or cookout, depending on their position in camp. Offering great perks, including JCC Health & Fitness center access, a supportive, vibrant in-person work environment, and a competitive starting pay rate of $15 per hour. The pay rate offered will ultimately be determined by relevant qualifications, experience and JCC's internal equity.
*The regular camp season begins June 29 and ends August 21 (with the option to also work the following “9th Week”). Orientation begins with one possible Zoom meeting June 14th and continues in-person, at Camp, on June 24, 25, and 26 and ends with Visiting Day (a pre-camp visit for all campers and families to meet staff) on Sunday, June 28.
While we prefer staff who can start Orientation Week and work the entire 8-week regular season, we are happy to consider quality candidates who may have conflicting obligations. Please note that bus transportation is only offered for regular camp days; it is not provided for Orientation, Staff Meetings, Family Days or home from late nights.

The Waterfront Director will be responsible for bringing Camp Grossman Waterfront operations into alignment with JCC Greater Boston‘s Aquatics Department standards, policies and procedures as they plan, monitor, and supervise all aspects of the Camp Grossman Waterfront operations. This includes but is not limited to: supervision of lifeguards and swim instructors, equipment and inventory management; customer service; staff training; payroll; staff scheduling; lifeguarding; and teaching swim lessons. Oversee all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the Waterfront:
Provides beach presence for both staff and campers, in order to ensure safety and excellent customer service at all times.
Effectively manages all aspects of the season opening and closing of the Waterfront.
Acts as “On Call” staff person during off hours to troubleshoot operational and staffing issues that may arise.
Act as a substitute for absent guards or instructors when needed. • Performs swim instruction as needed for all programs.

Train and manage waterfront staff in all aspects of swim programming
Manage emergency action plan documentation for the Waterfront.
Act as Aquatics liaison across the JCC Greater Boston and Camp Grossman Campuses. Facilitates seamless handoff for users of Camp Aquatics programs and year-round JCC Aquatics programs.

JOB DETAILS: We are an outdoor camp, located on beautiful, wooded property in Dover, MA. The regular camp day runs from 8:15 - 4:15, Monday - Friday, for the camp season*. In addition, Unit Heads are expected to attend 3 or 4 staff meetings on Monday evenings at JCC Greater Boston, and may be also be expected to attend additional meetings at camp, before or after the regular day. Unit Heads also work 1 or 2 of the following: Sunday Family Day, Shabbat Family Night, Late Night and/or Overnights, depending on their placement in camp, over the course of the summer. Offering great perks, including JCC Health & Fitness center access, a supportive, vibrant in-person work environment, and a competitive starting pay rate of $20 per hour. The pay rate offered will ultimately be determined by relevant qualifications, experience, and JCC's internal equity.
*The regular camp season begins June 29 and ends August 21 (with the option to work the following “9th Week” as well). The first Leadership Orientation sessions take place June 7, and possibly June 14, at camp. All staff Orientation takes place at camp on June 24, 25, and 26, and ends with Visiting Day, Sunday, June 28.

In addition, this position will be responsible for Lifeguard duties, including but not limited to:
Ensures the safety of every pool patron through education, vigilant preventative guarding, first aid, emergency medical services, and rescue services
Provides consistent pool coverage and smooth transitions between shifts through planning, punctuality and personal accountability
Enforces the rules and regulations of the pools consistently
Maintains good working relationships with staff members, maintenance personnel, administrative personnel, and pool patrons.
Resolves member concerns in a professional manner or escalates them, as appropriate

Requirements
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree required (with a Masters or above preferred) in counseling, social work or a related field
Experience as a mental health counselor, social worker, school adjustment counselor, or something similar.
Experience working with children and teens
Experience with children with special needs is helpful and preferred, but not necessarily required
Experience working in and/or attending summer camp preferred
*An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted at the JCC's discretion to meet minimum criteria.

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to work in-person, on-site in Dover, Massachusetts
Must be able to navigate 70 acres of rugged, uneven and rustic campgrounds independently
Comfortable working all or most of the day outdoors or inside without air conditioning
Able to work well in a busy, dynamic and sometimes noisy environment involving multiple tasks and priorities
Able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 30-40 pounds (boxes of supplies, children's backpacks etc.)
Able to sit and kneel; getting down at eye level with children regularly.

Essential Functions:
Provides excellent customer service experience to members, guests, and program participants in person and on the phone.
Monitors and responds to security issues at front desk and lobby access points.
Interviews, provide tours, and sells memberships to prospective members, and promotes renewals to existing members.
Maintains records and accounts of front desk membership and program sales.
Builds relationships with members; assist members to connect with other members.
Resolves membership concerns; informs supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
Portuguese and Spanish speaking is a plus and encouraged to apply.
Manage front desk cash receipts, records, and reconciliation of accounts daily.
Schedule might include opening, closing, weekend shift; week to week schedule changes as required.
