Responsibilities
As part of a dynamic, transdisciplinary UCLA Center for the Developing Adolescent (CDA), the Youth Engagement Coordinator will will cultivate and oversee the Youth Scientific Council on Adolescence (YSCA) and design and implement best practices to effectively engage youth in science-based research and translation. Primary duties include:
+ Create and foster a network of relationships in youth engagement sector that serve or work with children or adolescents and that can be leveraged for the goals of UCLA CDA.
+ Together with the Co-Executive Directors and CDA Communications team, you will develop a strategy by which to disseminate UCLA CDA's message and materials to position the center as a hub for understanding how to effectively engage youth in science-based research and translation.
+ Develop and oversee YSCA application process and recruit council members annually.
+ Organize, plan, and facilitate regular YSCA meetings.
+ Build the capacity of young people to effectively inform, translate, and disseminate the science of adolescence.
+ Co-design with young people, a consistent platform for the NSCA and CDA to seek the advice of and engage young people in their work.
+ Manage, assess, and report on the impact of CDA's youth engagement strategy.
+ Represent CDA in interactions and collaborations with other partners and organizations in the area of youth engagement.
Note: this role is hybrid remote.
Qualifications
1. Bachelor's Degree in Psychology with an emphasis on child development or related developmental-science field, preferred
2. Minimum of 2 years of experience and knowledge of working with youth and youth engagement.
3. Ability to work well in a collaborative team and will collaborate and coordinate efforts with the CDA staff.
4. Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal communications, active listening skills and political acumen to connect and createpartnerships from diverse sectors for UCLA CDA's mission and goal
5. Excellent analytical and critical thinking, project management, and problem recognition, and resolution skills.
6. Commitment to centering youth voice and community engagement.
