Position Summary The Mental Health Intake/Crisis Specialist works collaboratively on an interdisciplinary team of professionals to meet the diverse mental health needs of a global student community. This position provides culturally responsive mental health services to UO students including initial consultation/triage, emergency/crisis services, and case management as needed. They must work exceptionally well with students of color, LGBTQ+ students, international students, and other underrepresented students and communities on campus. This position will be part of the Mental Health Access Team (MHAT) at UHS. This team will be responsible for greeting all students who call or walk in seeking mental health care, becoming an integral part of helping the student quickly access professional help. The team will speak with the student to determine their need and then help the student find an appointment with the UHS provider who can best meet their mental health condition. Knowing students may arrive in many states of mental health, our access team will be prepared to be the first point of contact for all students, from those with minimal mental health support needs through those having an acute mental health crisis. Tribal Level 122 Classification: Full Time, Exempt, Limited Duration INTRODUCTION: The Mental Health Specialist provides mental health assessments and treatment to Siletz Tribal Youth at risk of delinquency, Tribal Youth involved in the juvenile justice system, and adults within areas served by the Portland and Salem area offices. Treatment services include individual, family, and group therapy. Treatment services to court-involved youth will be coordinated with juvenile justice agencies and may include participation in monthly case reviews and closed custody reviews. The Mental Health Specialist will work closely with other Tribal Program Staff in providing adventure-based counseling activities, such as use of the challenge course, whitewater rafting, wilderness treks and community-based wellness activities. The Mental Health Specialist will provide mental health assessments and treatment or referrals to outside agencies for adult and youth tribal members and their families in the Portland and Salem Area Offices Overall supervision for this position will be provided by the Behavioral Health Program Administrator, however, daily on-site supervision will be provided by the area supervisor at the location where she/he is assigned. DUTIES: Provides mental health assessments and treatment activities to clients and their families including individual, family, and group therapy. Provide assessments and brief services to adults in the Portland and Salem Area Offices. Treatment methods will include one-on-one counseling, group counseling, course presentation and use of adventure-based counseling practices. (Challenge course, whitewater rafting, and wilderness treks.) Experience providing mental health care at the QMHP or QMHA level preferred (including internship and practicum experience) in an outpatient mental health facility, hospital, residential or day-treatment setting providing counseling services to children, adolescents and families, specifically with trauma-informed practices. Experience delivering trauma-focused treatment modalities to children, such as TF-CBT, EMDR or PCIT, or willingness to receive training in trauma focused treatments. Strong ability to develop rapport with non-offending family members and flexibility to meet their needs. Knowledge of child abuse issues and laws preferred. Strong computer skills, including demonstrated experience with electronic health records, word processing and data entry, Telemental-health experience preferred. As the RCC Social Service Assistant, you will schedule, coordinate, and supervise group activities at the RCC program. You will maintain consistency and safety among clients, observe and record behavior patterns, aid in service planning, and document necessary behaviors. You will help clients with skill-building and providing directions in performing daily housekeeping duties, chores, physical activity, recreation, hygiene, and school work. You will complete crisis intervention and de-escalate clients daily utilizing the crisis intervention techniques learned during training. We are seeking applicants interested in full-time, Overnight shifts, from 10pm-8am four days/week! RCC, or the Regional Crisis Center, is a subacute residential facility where youth are placed directly from the Department of Human Services. RCC provides residential living facilities, mental health treatment, family counseling, substance use disorders treatment, and academic instruction to clients. RCC uses verbal de-escalation tactics as well as treatments such as seclusion rooms and full-body restraints when necessary to ensure the safety of our clients. Eligibility for a QMHA certification is preferred. You must have prior experience working with combative at-risk youth, preferably in a residential setting OR experience working in a challenging, high-paced environment that can be applicable to this line of work. The ability to maintain strong professional boundaries and confidentiality is a must. You must also be able to pass crisis intervention training within your first month of employment. The Regional Crisis Center uses specific manual restraints as specified by the state, and the ability to perform these restraints is essential to the position.
