Position Summary: Responsible for the direct supervision and leadership of Behavioral Care Specialists working in an Intense Residential Treatment Program on a designated shift. Reports To: BCS Manager Qualifications: Education and Experience: 21 years of age Bachelor's level practitioner with one year of direct care experience with the youth. BCS Supervisor Responsibilities: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the BCS staff including training, orientation, and compliance with the job description and scheduling. Provide guidance and supervision to BCS staff in regards to carrying out the daily implementation of all aspects of the treatment plan and leading recreational activities. Provide timely and constructive performance feedback, evaluate the work of the BCS staff, and provide reward and recognition for proper and efficient performance. Provide monthly supervision to the BCS staff that work on the supervisor's shift. Provide feedback to the BCS Manager to be included in the annual performance evaluations of all BCS staff. Ensure that a therapeutic milieu is created and maintained daily through close supervision of BCS staff. This includes helping staff maintain a calm disposition. Resolve problems and mediate conflicts encountered during daily operations, determine appropriate solutions, and promote teamwork. Ensure that all groups are run at their scheduled times. Provides group ideas to BCS staff on their shift if needed. Run groups as needed. Maintain required documentation of shift activity and BCS staff activity. Participate in after hours on-call coverage as needed. Serve as an extension of senior management when they are not present. Communicate issues of concern to the Program Director. Assign and distribute work, review work for accuracy and completeness, and return assignments with recommendations for proper completion. Serve as a leader to youth and staff. This includes creatively managing situations on shift and identifying and anticipating the needs of the program. Participate in Meeting of the Minds weekly. Recommend corrective action plans to the BCS Manager as needed. Perform daily facility maintenance inspections. Other: Familiar with all co-worker's job functions so that appropriate internal referrals can be initiated as needed (i.e. nurse, clinician, and principal). Assigned to mandatory extra shifts when needed. Takes on special tasks to contribute to the overall functioning of the program (i.e., ordering supplies, shopping, fire drills, pharmacy runs, errands, etc.). Given the magnitude of the opioid crisis in Philadelphia, the person filling this position will be primarily responsible for identifying and implementing strategies that increase buprenorphine use in primary care for the treatment of opioid use disorder. The individual filling this position will work with: the city's major health systems and commercial insurance providers; primary care providers; the Health Federation of Philadelphia; substance use treatment experts at the Poison Control Center; as well as other community partners. The work will be done in coordination with the Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disability Services and Community Behavioral Health (CBH-Philadelphia's behavioral health Medicaid program). Behavioral Health Counselor Trenton, NJ Full Time Mid Level Share Starting at $57,300 MAJOR FUNCTION Under the direct supervision of the Senior Director of Behavioral Health and Clinical Supervisor of Behavioral Health, the Behavioral Health Counselor (BHC) provides behavioral health services in an integrated care and trauma informed manner. The BHC will work in a patient center and collaborative manner providing services to patients which includes but is not limited to brief intervention counseling, identification of social determinants of health, referrals to mental health and substance use services as appropriate, and follow up services to patients via face to face or through telemedicine. Is responsible to work independently, managing a diverse caseload; does related work as required. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Direct Service: * Provide comprehensive assessment and diagnosis of behavioral health clients. * Provide effective treatment planning and assisting clients in successfully achieving goals. * Evaluate crisis situations and apply appropriate interventions. * Actively participate in meetings that support the integrated health care model to provide comprehensive care for clients. * Assist in the detection of "at risk" patients and development of plans to prevent further psychological or physical deterioration. * Assist the primary care team in developing care management processes such as the use of guidelines, disease management techniques, case management, and patient education to improve self-management of chronic disease. * Provide assessment, consultation, and brief intervention for psychological/psychiatric problems and/or disorders. * Teach patients, families, and staff care, prevention, and treatment enhancement techniques. * Monitor the site's behavioral health program, identifying problems related to patient services and making recommendations for improvement. * Complies with and meets the required standards for Joint Commission and HRSA accreditations. * Collaborates with all members of the Integrated Care Treatment team in service of the patient. * Other duties as assigned. Program Development and Maintenance: * Develops and maintains liaison relationships with community resources as able, specifically other behavioral health and substance abuse agencies. Works to establish collaborative services and to lessen duplication of care. * In conjunction with other staff utilizes the electronic community resource directory provided by the Trenton Health Team. * Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of special projects and/or pilot programs. * Interprets Center behavioral health policies and procedures to providers, institutions, agencies, recipients, and other concerned individuals. * Establishes and maintains necessary records and files. Drafts correspondence in the course of official duties. * Collects, records, and analyzes significant program-related data; develops monthly statistical and programmatic reports. Staff Development: * Serves as a full member of the HJAHC clinical staff team. * Participates fully in Behavioral Health departmental meetings and other agency meetings as warranted. * Participates in professional and related meetings, conferences, and continuing education training as available; prepares reports as requested. * Keeps appraised of developing areas of behavioral health and provides colleagues with updates as appropriate. * Assists in behavioral health departmental tasks, including programmatic and infrastructure design, implementation, and evaluation. * Learns and implements various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the Center or its related units. * Assists with onboarding of new staff as supervising university interns as requested.
