What You Will Do
Applies mutually shared and lived experiences navigating the systems of care as a caregiver. Serves as a role model, advocate, and mentor for children and families
Assists with obtaining and maintaining clients' entitlements, including Medicaid, Public Assistance, SSI as well as assisting with problems related to housing or utilities
Interviews clients and significant others, when appropriate, in order to obtain personal histories and to understand the social and emotional factors related to the client's mental health problems
Participates in frequent active engagement with families to engage them in receiving services and assists in empowering them to take the steps necessary to maximize their quality of life
Develops inventory of resources that will meet the clients' needs as identified in the assessment process
Advocates for and assists clients in utilizing adjunctive community resources. Arranges transportation and accompanies clients to appropriate facilities/agencies, as necessary

The goal of the Family Enrichment Center (FEC) is to enhance child and family well‑being by providing access and support to enable the strengthening of family protective factors inherent in its residents and community by building mutual community connections, capacity, and resilience.
In partnership with FEC staff, families will drive the planning, development, and sustainable co‑ownership of the centers. Families who participate in the FEC programming will be encouraged to share their expertise by volunteering at the center and given meaningful opportunities to engage with neighbors and peers. The goal of the FEC is to strengthen families' protective factors and build community connections, capacity, and resilience.
Position Summary
The Family Advocate is responsible for contributing to the day‑to‑day operation of the FEC including building connections with other staff, residents, and community partners; co‑designing and delivering relevant programming and activities (offerings); providing advocacy and making referrals for participants; and creating a warm and inviting gathering place for families and individuals using the protective factors model to support community resilience.
Responsibilities
Coordinate meetings, provide support, and collaborate with a team of local parents, subject experts, and other residents to deliver monthly events and activities (offerings) held at the FEC.
Foster a culture of respect built on the belief that families and communities possess the inherent strengths and knowledge needed to succeed given the right access to opportunities and support.
Provide advocacy, outreach, and referrals to connect participants to service providers and other programs that have resources to offer.
Engage groups of local community members of all ages and guide them through the co‑designed activities and programming of the FEC.

Qualifications

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Counselor will provide ongoing and trauma-informed comprehensive counseling services to adult survivors of domestic violence, trafficking, and/or other forms of gender violence. The Brooklyn Kindergarten Society (BKS) is the original “born in Brooklyn.” We were founded in 1891, and for 130 years, BKS has helped provide high-quality early childhood education to working families. BKS has grown up with the borough and continues to be a leader in equitable access to early childhood education. We provide full day, year-round academic experiences and care for children ages 2-5 years old. Our curriculum is play based and marries together reading, writing, movement and music, with STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) learning. Our goal is to ensure that Brooklyn's youngest learners have an equitable first educational step.
The Family Worker provides a variety of services to students, parents, and staff. A particular emphasis is placed on developing social skills, conflict resolution skills, and strategies for dealing with a myriad of challenges and opportunities.
SCOPE OF INFLUENCE
Direct service to the children and families of our centers
Work closely with our community partners to strengthen services provide to our families and the communities where we are located.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES Family and Community Engagement
Complete BKS intake packet and Family Partnership Agreement during intake phase, and support families to meet goals established in the agreement
Utilize information from Family Partnership Agreement to assist families with setting appropriate goals
Work with the families to assure that referrals meet their needs and identify alternative resources as needed
Participate in child case conferences with provider agencies, and parent teacher conferences where required
Intervenes and contacts parents when there are problems with attendance
Assist with recruiting and enrollment of children in the program
Work collaboratively with community resources and provide family with support services and referrals.
Conduct a minimum of two home visits per year, per child, with additional visits as needed
Data Entry and Programming
Maintain information in the Child Plus system and binder for family
Maintain confidentiality of family records and information (i.e. medical, mental health etc...)
Attend Delegate Agency Site Policy Committee meetings and assist with planning, organizing, and maintain records of their meetings
Coordinate monthly workshops based on center needs
Acts as a liaison between BKS and the community, establishing and maintaining relationships with various community members and organizations. Develops and maintains contacts with community social service, health, and mental health agencies.

Attend and participate in program staff meetings, as well as related agency training as appropriate.
Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, in Social Work, Human Services, Family Services, Counseling or related field
Bilingual strongly preferred
Candidates must demonstrate English language proficiency and basic typing skill.
Experience with students with developmental disabilities, school systems, community resources and entitlements preferred.
Must possess strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Must be able to work flexible hours
Must be able to establish working relationships with participants in need of supportive services

We are seeking an academically oriented physician with a track record of leading investigator-initiated and/or industry-sponsored clinical trials, and the ability to manage multidisciplinary research teams in a complex academic medical center.
This full-time faculty position is based in Manhattan and offers the opportunity to lead and expand NYU's rapidly growing portfolio of clinical trials in diabetes, obesity, and related metabolic diseases. The successful candidate will collaborate across departments and campuses, including with experts in cardiology, nephrology, hepatology, surgery, and population health, to advance the design and implementation of innovative trials and translational research programs.
Key Responsibilities
Design, lead, and implement clinical trials focused on Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, obesity, and metabolic disease.
Serve as Principal Investigator on at least one active investigator-initiated or industry-sponsored study annually.
Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including research coordinators, program managers, referring clinicians, research nurses, and data analysts.
Develop partnerships with institutional leadership, referring providers, and external sponsors to drive trial recruitment and visibility.
Mentor fellows and junior faculty in clinical trial methodology, study design, and regulatory compliance.
Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present results at national and international conferences.

What You Will Do
Apply mutually shared and lived experiences navigating the systems of care as a caregiver; serve as a role model, advocate, and mentor for children and families
Assist clients with obtaining and maintaining entitlements, including Medicaid, Public Assistance, SSI, and with problems related to housing or utilities
Interview clients and significant others (when appropriate) to obtain personal histories and understand social and emotional factors related to clients' mental health problems
Participate in frequent active engagement with families to engage them in receiving services and assist in empowering them to take steps necessary to maximize their quality of life
Develop inventory of resources that will meet clients' needs as identified in the assessment process

Licenses and Certifications:

Two or more years of equivalent and relevant experience in a social service agency OR an equivalent combination of the education and experience preferred
Work Experience:
Minimum of one year of experience in a mental health or social service setting with emphasis on family support services and/or family psycho‑education required
Lived experience as a caregiver for children with behavioral health needs in accordance with the New York State Office of Mental Health and the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene required
Bilingual skills may be required as determined by operational needs
