Job Overview
The Senior Child Life Specialist position is responsible for mentoring staff in the provision of comprehensive, purposeful, developmentally appropriate, and culturally sensitive, family-centered care. This care is focused on meeting the psychosocial and developmental needs of children and families. Provides evaluation and therapeutic services, direct patient care and patient/family education, in an efficient manner. Services may include therapeutic play, preparation, procedural support, special events, and reintegration programming. The Child Life Specialist utilizes these practices in an effort to facilitate adaptive coping techniques and promote growth and development of the patient and family. Shriners Spokane is looking for a part time Senior Child Life Specialist to join our amazing team!
Schedule: Part time 0.3 FTE (in-person)
The pay range for this position is $24.50-$36.76/hourly. Compensation is determined based on years of experience and departmental equity.
Responsibilities
Performs individual assessments to collect comprehensive and accurate date necessary to assess development, temperament, coping style, medical plan, cultural preferences & practices and available social supports in order to develop an individualized treatment plan
Ensures that intervention is compliant with department policy and the professional standards of practice
Plans and implements an individualized treatment plan that identifies goals and evidence-based treatment intervention strategies, with an emphasis on psychosocial and emotional needs of the patients and their families
Utilizes electronic medical record applications to document relevant patient and family information
Ensures adapted equipment and recreation equipment is safe and functioning properly
Performs self-reflection of personal practice and professional work activities to direct individual; and staff goals for professional growth and development

The Opportunity:
In this role, you will assess complex family situations, interview children and parents, evaluate child safety, develop plans to protect children in their homes, and offer services to children and families.

As a Social Service Specialist, you are required to successfully complete a mandatory 9.5-week Worker Core Training (WCT). This training provides the foundational knowledge and skills needed to perform core job functions, including assessing risk and safety, supporting child well-being, gathering information, and conducting case and permanency planning. During the training, you will have opportunities to practice these skills through classroom activities, simulation exercises, and debriefs. Upon hire, you will be assigned to the nearest available training cohort. The training includes four (4) weeks at our Seattle training site (scheduled for Weeks 2, 4, 6, and 8). For those eligible for travel from their assigned duty location, DCYF covers hotel accommodations and per diem costs.
The WCT curriculum is designed to prepare Social Service Specialists for the responsibilities of the role, including:
* Understanding the child welfare system
* Familiarity with the Revised Code of Washington (RCW) related to child welfare
* Policies, procedures, and best practices
* Assessing child safety through environmental observation, interviews with children and caregivers, and collateral contacts

Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Basic Needs & Success, the Higher Aspirations Juvenile Justice Adjunct Counselor will provide a wide range of program counseling, and support services to current and formerly incarcerated students. Essential Duties
The Higher Aspirations Juvenile Justice Adjunct Counselor is responsible for providing delivery of core counseling services which will occur both on-campus and off-campus in multiple ways: in-person, on-line/virtual, individual and group meetings. Duties include, but are not limited to:
* Provide personal, career, and educational counseling to current and formerly incarcerated youth and young adults.
* Conduct outreach activities, assist current and formerly incarcerated individuals with verifying eligibility for services and matriculating into the college
* Establish a rapport with students; monitor and track students' academic progress to ensure attainment of educational goal.
* Maintain contact with students throughout their enrollment; and use an early alert system to ensure student persistence and success.
* In collaboration with the college administration, EOPS, CalWORKs/Fresh Success, NextUp and other counselors, implement effective retention and engagement efforts to support the success of formerly incarcerated students.
* Address the counseling and advising needs of students; Prepare multi-year academic plans for graduation and transfer.
* This position may teach counseling, career, and orientation courses related to the assignment as appropriate.
* Other duties as assigned. Standard duties expected of all faculty include development and evaluation of curricula, maintaining scheduled office hours, attending department and division meetings, pursuing professional growth activities, service on district and/or college committees, and performing other duties consistent with the role of faculty.
Minimum Qualifications, Education, and Experience

Job Overview
The Senior Child Life Specialist position is responsible for mentoring staff in the provision of comprehensive, purposeful, developmentally appropriate, and culturally sensitive, family-centered care. What you'll do
The Residential Treatment Specialist (RTS) is responsible for providing physical care and in collaboration with other staff, shall be responsible for implementing programming designed to assist each resident with their individual treatment plan. This position supports the Behavioral Health Division of Pioneer Human Services by ensuring the provision of quality and cost effective chemical dependency services. Job Duties are but not limited to:
* Interprets and explains program and/or unit policy and procedure to each resident as needed.
* Perform and document daily shift activities as required by program policies, contract stipulations and professional standards.
* Supervise and monitor resident movement, activity and rule compliance.
* Assess and respond appropriately to resident behaviors, attitudes and dispositions.
* RTS's assigned to evening and weekend shifts are responsible for implementing and assisting in the planning of a wide variety of structured activities, designed to promote social and independent living skills necessary to maintain a viable recovery and rehabilitation program.
* Provides written documentation of observations as input to the resident's Individual Treatment Plan and review process.

* Request maintenance and household supplies in accordance with procedure.
* Complete intake and discharge procedures for all residents upon arrival and at exit.
* Conduct program orientations for newly arrived residents.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Paraeducators are an integral part of the learning and teaching team. Paraeducators providing behavioral support to students work closely with counselors, families and students in order to provide consistent expectations and cues across settings. Vital responsibilities for Instructional Paraeducator Behavior Specialists include promoting/implementing consistent expectations, modeling positive responses in high stress situations and maintaining consistency in crisis situations. Understanding how environment, child development, and adults' expectations impact a child's behavioral response is critical to this position. The ability to adapt and respond to individual student needs while maintaining high expectations is also an essential element of this position.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
An instructional paraeducator may perform all or some of the responsibilities defined below:
* Support implementation of teacher designed instructional activities and classroom routines
* Conduct teacher/therapist-designed instructional experiences
* Work with individual and small groups of students
* Supervise, model, and teach expected behaviors across educational settings, including classrooms, lunchroom, playground, hallways, etc.
* Implement individual and school wide behavior support plans and positive interventions
* Implement district-adopted de-escalation and restraint strategies
* Foster social and language development through play activities and active engagement with children
* Promote students' best interests through positive role modeling and student advocacy
* Administer assessment materials as trained or delegated
* Assist in preparation of instructional materials and perform clerical duties associated with general instruction program
* Consistently and respectfully respond to student needs while maintaining confidentiality

* Work together with the driver on issues such as safety and comfort on the bus and working with the driver to ensure students are transported safely and in comfort
