Minimum Qualifications Basic Education Requirements: Possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in counseling, marriage/family therapy, psychology or social work. NOTE: If you will graduate within six (6) months of application from an accredited university and will meet the Education Requirement upon your graduation, you must provide a letter attesting to such from your department chair or university, along with your most current official transcripts. Final official transcript showing receipt of the degree must be submitted upon graduation. The Sex Abuse Treatment Center (SATC) of the Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children is a statewide program established in 1976 in response to the community's concern over the absence of medical, psychological and legal support services for victims and the absence of police reporting. Today it is recognized for its leadership and expertise in providing treatment services for survivors of sexual assault, preventing sexual violence and effecting change through public policy, awareness and education. Our mission is to support the emotional healing process of those sexually assaulted in Hawai'i, to increase community awareness about their needs and to reduce the incidence of all forms of sexual assault. Through research and education we also aim to improve clinical practices. By promoting and engaging in public policy we are changing public perceptions of sexual violence, overcoming barriers to treatment and prevention, and ensuring effective criminal justice practices. As the Crisis Worker/Community Liaison, you will join a team of dedicated, compassionate and dynamic professionals at the Sex Abuse Treatment Center, where you can support patients who have suffered trauma from sexual abuse. In this role, you will provide crisis intervention counseling to sexual assault victims and their families; coordinate the medical-legal process and the proper collection and transfer of medical-legal evidence; prepare written reports and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of any changes in protocol; provide information to victims about the legal system and options for police reporting; offer assistance and emotional support; work with community groups to resolve issues that impact sexual abuse service; and deliver presentations and community outreach efforts to raise awareness about sexual violence and SATC services. We are looking for someone with outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, an appreciation for community outreach and social service and a commitment to delivering the highest quality health care to Hawai'i's people.
