Position Overview The Youth Worker will have the primary responsibility of engaging 20 very high-risk young women, most of whom are mothers, through relationships and programming as well as working with community partners (DCF, Police, Probation, etc.) within the communities Roca is serving in Western MA with a focus on Springfield. The successful Youth Worker will work closely with team members, supervisors, and others within the organization to ensure that each young person is driving to outcomes of economic independence and living out of harm's way. We strive to meet the following outcomes: No Re-Incarcerations and Retained Employment; and additionally, for young women/mothers: reduced victimization and systems involvement. General Responsibilities Facilitate, apply, practice, and demonstrate Cognitive Behavioral Theory (CBT) using Roca's Intervention Model. Consistently exercise and application of Cognitive Behavioral Theory (CBT) informally, formally and virtually. Assist and role model in the process of obtaining and sustaining employment through job search and overall workforce professionalism. Engage with other aspects of work, such as but not limited to, family and criminal court engagement, work behind the wall/in residential programs, peacemaking circles, work with the community, productive and professional participation in meetings, etc. Continually learn, demonstrate, practice and improve skills related to Roca's intervention model. The Milieu Counselor functions under the supervision of the Shift Supervisor, Clinical Manager and/or Program Director. In this role, you will establish and maintain interpersonal relationships with patients' visitors and other facility personnel while assuring confidentiality of patient information. The appropriate candidate will observe patient's behavior and record observation either in chart and/or communication log, reports and follows direction of immediate supervisor in the event of crisis or emergency situation. This position participates in conducting room checks in all patient rooms as required throughout shift and document(s) appropriately. This candidate will conduct assigned lectures and groups. Eligible for Weekend and Night Differential.Requirements: High school diploma or general education degree (GED), experience in human services or healthcare field, with direct patient care experience and knowledge and understanding of alcoholism and addiction is preferred. RESPONSIBILITIES The Peer Specialist will provide weekly meetings with caregivers/family members in their home and community. Develop skills towards goals identified that are focused primarily on activities that involve helping the families care for and strengthen their child's mental and physical health, development, and well-being. Engage in a variety of activities to support the caregivers/family members, including discussions, psychoeducation, self-advocacy, empowerment, and parenting skills development. The Peer Specialist will document in an Electronic Health Record and conduct regular communication. Develop Treatment Plan Goals. The Peer Specialist will provide community resources and general support. Transport caregiver/family members and youth as needed. Work as a team with other CFTSS and Care Management staff. Participate in weekly supervision and monthly staff meetings. All other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma or equivalent required. A Youth Peer Advocate credential is required. Must be an individual 18 to 30 years old who has self-identified as having first-hand experience with mental health or behavioral challenges, or co-occurring disorders. Must be able to use a “lived experience” with a disability, mental health condition, involvement the in juvenile justice system, special education, substance use disorder and/or foster care system to assist in supporting youth in their resiliency, recovery, and wellness. Prior knowledge of mental health conditions and prior experience working with children, preferably children with special needs required. Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office, are required. Excellent interpersonal, engagement, and verbal and written communication skills are required. Ability to be creative and present ideas and skills in a variety of ways is required. Bilingual in Spanish preferred. Valid and clean New York State Driver's License and own a reliable car that is properly insured, registered, and maintained to drive from worksite to worksite required.
