Coach/Official Youth Sports
Rate: $14.50/hour
Foothills has an opportunity for energetic candidates who are interested in providing an incredible experience for the youth in our sports programs.

The Coach/Official for Youth Athletics position is responsible for supervising and officiating games, keeping accurate attendance records, developing lesson plans, and evaluating the skill level and progress of all participants. Additional duties include implementing rules and regulations ensuring that participants are following policies, and resolving disputes. The shift for role includes 8:00 am - 4:00 pm on Saturdays and the potential to work during the week from 4:30 pm - 7:30 pm.
Athletic Seasons are as follows:

May-October: Soccer
April/August-October: Football
October-March: Basketball
May-August: Baseball



Minimum qualifications:
Must be at least 15 years of age at the time of application. One year of previous experience in an assigned area of structured programming. Concussion recognition training is required prior to employment and must be renewed annually.

At CMCS (Cardinal McCloskey Community Services), our mission is to protect, empower and promote independence for at-risk children and families and those with developmental disabilities through quality community based services. A COA Accredited Agency, CMCS has provided services in locations throughout Westchester and Rockland Counties, as well as the Bronx and Manhattan since 1946.


We are currently seeking passionate Youth Coach. Coaches build trusting, long-term relationships with young people. Once the relationship between a Coach and young person is established, the overall goal is to support the young person to, Graduate high school. Persist in a post-secondary setting i.e build progressive career development experiences in line with their interests, strengths, and academic/vocational plans that will help them navigate onto a living wage career pathway. Successfully navigate the transition into adulthood (and into independent living, for those young people who are aging out). Build Relationships and providing ongoing social/emotional support for young people.


Education & Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of experience working with at-risk or system-involved young people; OR An Associate or accredited vocational degree, and 3+ years of working with at-risk or system-involved young people.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate in team settings and build relationships with external partners;
  • Ability to use Motivational Interviewing techniques;
  • Ability to use trauma-informed techniques;
  • Experience working with vulnerable youth;
  • Knowledgeable about youth resources and services;
  • Ability to facilitate therapeutic peer groups

  • Strong computer skills and ability to utilize online platforms and databases.

Key Responsibilities

The Village of Orland Park's Sportsplex facility is seeking energetic, responsible, and enthusiastic Youth Sports Coach who enjoys a variety of sports to run a variety of programming for preschool aged children. This position is responsible for coordinating and implementing recreation department pre-school and youth sports programs. Instructor will create a lesson plan for assigned athletic/recreation program(s) along with, and under the direction of the Supervisor. Instructor will teach children the fundamentals of athletic program. The instructor will create a fun, positive and memorable athletic experience while developing sports specific knowledge and teamwork.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

This position is ideal for a sports-minded individual currently pursuing a degree in recreation or sports management or sports focused individual who enjoys working with children. A friendly, efficient and service-minded attitude, exceptional interpersonal skills, and enthusiasm are key for this role. Previous children sports experience, and customer service experience are helpful.

Prior experience working recreational and/or sports programs is required. Knowledge of sports fundamentals required. Prior high school level or above direct sports participation is highly preferred. Must be energetic, enthusiastic and enjoy working with children.

Hours: Individual in this role will be scheduled no more than 19.5 hours per week. Availability needed for Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 10:00am to 4:00pm and Saturday 9:00am to 12:00pm. Additional availability for weekday afternoons, evenings and weekends in also needed. Hours vary based on programs offered during season and based on enrollment. Refer to the current Program Guide's Athletic Section available atwww.orlandpark.orgfor a complete listing of current programming, days/times.
