Our BAM Youth Specialist is responsible for:
Guiding young men in grades 7 – 12 to learn, internalize, and practice social skills, make responsible decisions for their future, and become positive members of their school and community.

Essential Duties/ Responsibilities:
Work in collaboration with BAM Program Supervisor and school administration to recruit and build relationships with up to 60 school-based youth to participate in the BAM Lead and facilitate 4 – 5 weekly BAM groups during the school day, utilizing youth engagement, clinical counseling, and men’s rites of passage skills. Provide individualized support to all BAM participants, and provide individual, family, and crisis counseling sessions to students on an as-needed basis. Participate in monthly staff development training and team meetings on the evidence-based BAM curriculum and other topics relevant to working with youth. Participate in supervision and coaching to ensure fidelity of program delivery. Document all interactions with youth, including group and individual case notes, clinical assessments, brief encounters, special events, program consents, pre/post surveys, and monthly program narratives based on program protocol. Work jointly with BAM Program Supervisor to manage an annual program budget to plan and execute field trips and special events for students throughout the school year and summer. Collaborate with school administration, teachers, and other Youth Guidance programs to provide, and participate in professional development sessions. Collaborate and/or coordinate services with the Local School Council, Youth Guidance Parent Family Engagement team, and school parent engagement team.
Our BAM Youth Specialist has been equipped for this impactful work with at least a:
Bachelor’s degree from an approved accredited university and a minimum of two years of youth engagement experience. A Master’s Degree in social work, counseling, or a related human service field from an approved accredited university and one year of youth engagement experience preferred
Minimum of two years of experience providing supervised group counseling.

'Valiant House' offers comprehensive treatment services on a 24/7 basis in a home-like environment, so traumatized boys can heal as they learn to live as responsible members of a family and community. We house 5 boys between the ages of 12-17 years old.
Responsibilities
The Youth Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the therapeutic group home. They provide direct care, supervision, behavior management, proactive interventions, and recreational programming for the children. They will participate in the planning and implementation of programming specifically designed to encourage developmental growth for the clients. They will provide crisis intervention, including performing restraints when necessary.
The Youth Specialist is responsible to provide observations of resident behaviors with the Residential Supervisors and the clinical staff as needed. Must have the temperament to work with, and care for, children and youth. Create and maintain a clean work environment, attend bi-monthly staff meetings, administer medication, as scheduled by a nurse and prescribed by the psychiatrist, and adhere to the staffing schedule. Shift assignments are determined by program needs.
Wellmore will pay for you to become CPR/First Aid Certified within 90 days of your start date - classes will be onsite.
Education and experience requirements
- Minimum high school diploma, associate’s degree preferred.
- Prefer at least three to four years of experience working with children or adolescents. Prefer at least one year of experience in a youth-oriented program.
- Ability to deal with crisis situations, implement a behavior modification program, maintain appropriate boundaries and work as a team member.
- Knowledge of cultural diversity and childhood & adolescent development is preferred.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
Shift(s) available:
Full Time:
(40 hours): Tuesday - Friday, 3rd shift; 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM; (4-day work week). Payrate: $15.50/hr.
Per Diem :
Cover shifts of regular staff vacations or sick days. Per Diems needed for all shifts; including evenings and weekends. Flexible hours available around college classes. Excellent work experience in real-life situations. Pay rate : $15.50/hr.
