An Industrial Pipefitter will assemble, layout, install and maintain pipe systems on steam, fluid or gas systems. The Pipe systems may include but not limited to: pipe, flanges, supports, valves, gauges, hangars, and angles. Cuts pipe, using saws, pipe cutter, hammer and chisel, cutting torch, and pipe cutting machine. Threads pipe by hand or by power driven equipment. Dismantles equipment or devices to gain access to and remove defective parts or components. Enters safe vessels, towers, and columns for installation and maintenance of trays and cleaning. Perform miscellaneous tasks that require manually moving materials, tools, and equipment and using hand tools and power tools. Performs work area clean-up and safety-related duties. Completes paperwork documenting repair and maintenance activities. Gives suitable assignments to helpers. Works in association with all crafts (electrician, welder, carpenter, or painter) when conditions, schedule, or workload warrants or as directed by management. Secures pipes to structure with brackets, clamps, and hangers, using hand tools and power tools. Requires working in operating facilities and observing and abiding by additional safety policies and procedures. Other duties as assigned Requirements Four (4) years of experience in work involving a variety of layout, installation, and maintenance tasks Proficiency in using various hand and power tools, including cutting torches, threading machines, grinders, and beveling machines. Ability to operate equipment like forklifts and man lifts is also common. Strong understanding of pipe fitting processes, materials, welding symbols, safety procedures (OSHA 10-hour certification is often preferred), and an ability to read technical manuals. Good communication skills, problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and the capacity to work both independently and as part of a team.
