Human Resources Manager Job in LAnse, MI
Job DescriptionOur client, a global organization in L’Anse, Michigan, is seeking a Plant Human Resouce Manager to join their team. This role will be responsible for developing and maintaining professional relationships with staff, benefit administration, and completing the onboarding and offboarding process. The person in this role should be personable, be able to make informed decisions on behalf of the company, and promote a collaborative teamwork environment to best engage staff.
Duties include, but not limited to:
Provide guidance and recommendations related to employee recruitment, performance management, and people development while promoting a healthy company culture
Work closely with management and employees to improve and influence working relationships
Build morale, promote diversity and increase productivity and performance through an engaged workforce.
Manage and provide day-to-day performance guidance regarding employee relations issues (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions, and conducting effective and objective employee investigations).
Independently advise management regarding employee relation issues to ensure the consistent application of practices, in compliance with legal requirements.
Provide counseling, coaching, and possible disciplinary actions and performance management. This includes working with legal counsel, drafting disciplinary letters, and supporting the termination/exit process with all its documentation and systems requirements.
Manage all aspects of payroll processing; SPOE (single point of entry), validation and analysis of hourly payrolls for processing, Kronos administration, and compiling a monthly headcount.
Plant Benefits Administrator for all employees.
Manages and administers STD, LTD claims and correspondences, and facilitates all return-to-work requirements.
Lead and manage the recruitment effort for all positions within the Plant
Source qualified potential candidates
Prepare job postings, acknowledge applications, and short-listing applicants
Schedule, develop interview questions and conduct interviews
Complete background checks
Prepare employment contracts and on-boarding of new hires.
Bachelor’s Degree Required
Minimum 7+ years of Human Resource Experience preferred
Union experience is highly preferred
Knowledge of Kronos and PeopleSoft software
HR systems - Kronos, PeopleSoft - experience with an applicant tracking system is key
Professional and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
