Primary Responsibilities: Support the preparation and filing of federal, state, local, and foreign income and franchise tax returns by providing necessary reports, reconciling filings to the general ledger, answering questions and collaborating with third-party advisors Prepare, file, and ensure the timely payment of sales and use tax returns, Value-Added tax (VAT) returns, Goods and Services tax (GST) returns, property tax returns, customs duties and excise tax returns Support the monthly sales and use tax accrual process by reviewing invoices to determine product or service taxability, and work with internal departments to maintain sales tax exemption certificates Prepare foreign withholding tax returns and inquiries, and assist other departments to comply with foreign withholding tax regimes Assist the Accounting Department's monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes by preparing and reviewing tax accruals Support the preparation of tax provisions and prepare tax accounting reconciliations and journal entries Thoroughly document all tax team processes and decisions with policies and relevant carryforward notes Maintain tax records and relevant documentation Support the Director of Tax Accounting with managing all ongoing projects, including recurring tax calendar items and ad-hoc tax projects Respond to tax-related notices and internal requests, and assist with tax audits Assist with tax planning, tax expense forecasting and various other tax projects Meet domestic and foreign tax statutory deadlines by maintaining the tax calendar Collaborate with other departments and external advisors and consultants Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field 1-3+ years of experience in public accounting or on a corporate tax team Strong understanding of accounting and taxation principles Demonstrated ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, tax compliance and ERP systems Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Strong attention to detail and a focus on accuracy and documentation Effective communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently with support, and as part of a team Ideal Qualifications: Commitment to embracing a continual learning environment and contributing to a dynamic and welcoming culture of fairness, authenticity, and belonging in support of EAB's mission, values, and aspiration If you've reached this section of the job description and are unsure of whether to apply, please do! Compensation: The anticipated starting salary range for this role is $68,000 to $92,500 per year. Actual salary varies due to factors that may include but not be limited to relevant experience, skills, and location. This hire will additionally be eligible for discretionary bonus or incentive compensation. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Corporate Tax, this position will work in all aspects of our corporate tax function and with all areas in finance, directly with the businesses and our outside consultant. This position is critical to the Finance Department as it operates to ensure global compliance with tax laws. You will be joining a lean team with high visibility and high exposure to Senior Management and throughout the organization. RESPONSIBILITIES The [Senior] Tax Accountant will be responsible for a wide range of tax matters for Alarm.com and its businesses. Key responsibilities include: * Coordinate with internal departments to meet data request deadlines of external advisors for all ASC 740, Accounting for Income Tax, tax provision and compliance areas related to annual federal, international, and state and local [income] tax filing obligations. * Assist in the calculation, documentation and review of various ASC 740 permanent and temporary differences, income tax disclosures and standalone income tax computations and reporting requirements. * Coordinate with external advisors to complete the annual Federal R&D tax credit study, including data collection, reconciliation and analysis, facilitating communications with internal subject matter experts, as well as preparing all applicable state tax credit calculations and application filings. * Prepare calculation of nondeductible foreign research and development costs. * Support preparation and review of workpapers for federal and state income tax returns and ensure alignment with financial reporting. * Review state income tax apportionment calculations, state income tax returns and certain pro forma Federal income tax returns prepared by the external consultant. * Assist with income tax exam management, including gathering requested documentation and coordinating responses to auditor inquiries in an efficient and cost-effective manner. * Support continuous improvement and documentation of internal tax processes and perform necessary SOX controls at the required frequencies.
