We are currently seeking to hire a Production Assembly Associate at our location in Michigan City, Indiana.
Position Summary
Responsible for assembling purchased parts and the various pieces that go together to form a finished product. The assembly associate will use various hand tools and power tools, in conjunction with their hands, to complete the job.
Tools: Hand tools; screwdrivers, wrenches / sockets, wire strippers / crimpers, tape measure.
Power Tools; drills, grinders, belt sander, band saw, and power riveter
Responsibilities
· Prepare work to be accomplished by studying assembly instructions, blueprint/wiring specifications, and bills of material; gather parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.
· Install parts and subassemblies by assembly drawings/on job training.
· Assemble components by examining connections for correct and proper fit; fastening parts and subassemblies.
· Resolve assembly problems: notify line supervisor to obtain additional resources/direction.
· May train co-workers in production assembly.
· May be required to complete production documentation.
· Required to maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with Vanair procedures, rules, and regulations.

• Conduct quality inspections on processing line in accordance with quality specifications.
• May disassemble, modify, rework, reassemble and test experimental assemblies.
• Keep working area safe, clean and organized.
• May work in other areas of the facility, as needed.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds of materials and requires standing and moving. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Read and understand bill of materials
Position parts according to knowledge of unit being assembled or per work instructions
Fit, align, adjust, fasten and/or plumb parts together to ordinary tolerances
Use tools such as wrenches, impact guns, utility knife, drift pins, sealant tape, glue, staple gun, nail gun, sheet grinder and any other required tools/equipment safely and effectively
Operate a man lift, scissor lift, overhead crane, hoist and/or forklift as required after in house certification is obtained
Tag and label finished units
Confers with supervision, area lead, maintenance, or others to resolve assembly issues
Cross-train in other departments
Other tasks as assigned

Your Challenges:
Position Summary:
Responsible for the structural installation of parts and major components in the manufacturing of the aircraft within the assigned station area.
Primary Responsibilities:
● Perform repair work (concessions/discrepancies).
● Positioning and assembly of components.
● Rework of external skin damage of the aircraft.
● Work in compliance with production orders, design documents, concessions and inspection procedures.
● Prepare and solve queries, ensure follow-up and give feedback.
● Examine and sort work orders and drawings.
● Prepare job station for daily activity.
● Perform other duties as assigned.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Aircraft Structural Assembler is responsible for performing complex final assembly for production parts and flyaway composite parts, specifically. Tasks include final fit up, finishing work, drill and tap, final assembly, and bonding of parts.
The following essential job functions are performed as an Aircraft Structural Assembler:
Assemble and fit aircraft structural parts and subassemblies
Perform test fit and gap checks with high tolerances
Perform structural adhesive bonding preparation per product specifications and compliance programs
Align, fit, assemble, connect, or install system components, using jigs, fixtures, measuring instruments, hand tools, or power tools
Adjust, repair, rework, or replace parts and assemblies
Layout and mark reference points
Read and understand blueprints, isometric drawings and work orders
Receive and carry out directions from designated supervisors, production leads, and cell managers
Must understand and comply with safety and 5S
Must understand and comply with AS9100 and Nadcap Practices and Procedures as applicable
Must be able to read, understand and execute work orders to exacting specifications
Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly, FOD free condition
Performs on the job training for project certifications, AS9100, Nadcap training and other training as required
Must work well under pressure, meeting and completing multiple deadlines. Shall, at all times, demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors
Must be at work on time and maintain good attendance. This is a condition of employment and is an essential function of the job

QUALIFICATIONS

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Wage range for this role is between $20 - $45 an hour plus a discretionary bonus, 401(k) matching, vacation, and health benefits.
