SUMMARY:
Support operations in the design, build, implementation, and maintenance of custom-built equipment and processes under the direction of the Manufacturing Engineer, mainly utilizing Automation Direct's PLC and software. Develop innovative and creative approaches for improvement in safety, quality, and productivity in processes and equipment. Occasional travel may be necessary.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Must be capable of following and meeting standard work requirements.
Must be able to use computer programs to assist in recording data, making labels, obtaining prints and specifications, etc.
Lead projects to improve equipment within the facility.
Be able to continue to pursue future designs that will help Parker HPD move forward in leading-edge technology
Troubleshoot equipment or PLC issues.
Able to foster professionalism with all associates in order to obtain feedback and ideas to incorporate into improvements for the facility.
Aide in the development of apprentices.
DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS:
Specify and order any materials required to create any approved project and document the final designs. This documentation must include items such as: blueprints, bill of materials, preventative maintenance standard work, etc. as required for continued support of the equipment
Develop a spare parts stock strategy to organize and correctly account for that inventory and usage
Develop safety practices that improve working conditions on equipment as needed and beyond OEM standards to ensure a safe Parker work environment in HPD plants
Schedule equipment repairs or implementation with production control department.
Other duties may be assigned at a later time
Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures in a manner that eliminates risk to health and the environment. Notify leadership of unsafe conditions or practices unlawful activities and activities that present unreasonable health and/or environmental risk. Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to leadership immediately.
Participate in peer-based teams (i.e., Cross Functional Teams), and work with groups to initiate and implement programs such as Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and Total Productive Maintenance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
High School diploma or GED
Certified electrician preferred
2 years of trade school education preferred
Desired 4 years of trade school education or certificate
Experience:
5 years in a Manufacturing Environment
Required Skills
Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Good math, reading and writing skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office.
Experience with Automation Direct's Productivity Suite
Capable of wiring PLC and related components.
Have working knowledge and understanding of pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems, and electrical equipment (systems up to 480 volts).
Creative and out of the box thinker to visualize and construct equipment and/or make modifications that will improve safety and productivity for our processes and people.
Preferred Skills
1. Experience with Codesys programming software.
2. Capable of writing training instructions, Standard Work instructions, and repair records.
3. Have working knowledge of the maintenance and functionality of various types of manufacturing equipment.
4. Have working knowledge and understanding of pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems, electrical equipment (systems up to 480 volts).
5. Strong programming knowledge in PLC's and HMI's.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS/ SCOPE:
Report directly to Manufacturing Engineer
Work closely with other departments to resolve issues with the processes & equipment.
Communicate with incoming shift of issues and needs.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work in areas where safety equipment will be required (steel toe shoes, eye protection, hearing protection)
Standing is required for extended periods of time. Walking, pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, turning, twisting, squatting, and lifting is performed regularly
Air-conditioned facility

Primary Function: The Electrical ControlsTechnician is responsible for directing electrical troubleshooting related to programmable controllers, HMIs, safety devices and other higher level electrical devices on their respective shift. Duties and Responsibilities:

* Make PLC, VFD, HMI etc. program and wiring modifications as required
* Assist Engineering in keeping documentation and drawings up to date by reporting changes
* Continue education, both on-site and off-site on equipment or topics relevant to the plant
* Assist in continuous improvement initiatives, countermeasures, and kaizen events
* Perform other related maintenance duties including completion of PMs and work orders
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
* Be able to read and understand the various schematics and electrical prints for the equipment in the plant
* Be proficient with utilizing a computer, including Microsoft Office, SAP, and Prometheus
* Be able to access and utilize the software associated with the various VFDs, PLCs, Wonderware, and HMIs utilized throughout the plant
* Demonstrate effective communication skills: written, oral, and electronic
Equipment/Data:
* Be able to operate electrical troubleshooting equipment, such as a multimeter, megger, oscilloscope, current probe, and computer
* Be able to understand and modify equipment programs written for PLCs, VFDs, safety controllers, etc.
* Be able operate basic shop equipment, such as a lathe, milling machine, and drill press
* Be able to use common hand tools
Education & Experience Requirements:
* Education: A technical education with a specialization in electronics is preferred.
* Equivalency: A maintenance background with demonstrated proficiency in electrical troubleshooting, which involves multiple types of automation related equipment.
Work Environment/Time Worked:
* Work Environment: Environment is generally in an industrial manufacturing setting. On occasion, this person will be required to attend meetings. The job itself can be very stressful at times and can require a fast pace. There will be occasions where machine failures will require intense focus and quick resolution while maintaining safe work performance.
* Time Worked: Hours Worked - This position will be on a rotating 8 hour shift. However when problems occur, these individuals may be required to come into the Plant at any time if major issues occur. The incumbent is not expected to be "on call".
* Days of Week Worked - Generally Monday through Friday. Week day and weekend overtime will be available at times and will be mandatory on occasions.
* Comments - This position may be required on occasion to answer phone calls at home, due to the nature of the operation which may involve situations that need to answered or advised regardless of the time of day.
Physical Requirements:
Sitting, standing, some climbing stairs including catwalks, silos, ladders, etc. will be required along with stooping, bending and lifting. Sight and hearing is required to not only observe the process and personnel, but also to effectively communicate with people and assist with problem solving. Must be able to move freely between facilities on the campus, as well as within each facility, in order to observe work processes and assist with problem solving and troubleshooting.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
* No direct reports.
* This position may be required to fulfill the duties of the Senior Technician during their absence if nobody is selected for this responsibility.
Expectations:
This position is intended to provide higher level electrical expertise for the various production shifts. During periods when this expertise is not required, this person will have the same duties and responsibilities of other Maintenance Technicians. The person who fills this position is expected to remain current with the changing technologies related to this position. The person will be required to complete on-the-job training and electrical related courses. Reviews for progression eligibility to ECTII and ECTIII will be completed yearly based on training, courses, and feedback.

Position Summary

Minimum Qualifications
