As Head of Quality, you will lead Zipline's Quality organization-including our Quality Engineers and Quality Technicians-overseeing the end-to-end quality lifecycle across all feeder lines and top-level assemblies: aircraft, droid, and dock. You will own the quality strategy, execution, and continuous improvement across Incoming Quality Control (IQC), End-of-Line (EOL), and Outgoing Quality Control (OQC) processes to ensure every Zipline product meets the performance and reliability expectations required for global operations.
This role is both strategic and deeply operational. You'll develop scalable quality processes, coach and empower a high-performing team, and use data to drive continuous improvement in first pass yield (FPY), cost of poor quality (COPQ), and field reliability. As a key manufacturing leader, you'll collaborate closely with Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, and Product Design to ensure quality is built into every stage-from supplier through shipment.
You'll need to be comfortable operating in an ambiguous, rapidly evolving environment, balancing day-to-day problem solving with building long-term systems that will scale as Zipline grows globally.
What You'll Do
As Head of Quality, you'll define and drive Zipline's quality vision and roadmap across production and field operations. You'll empower your team to execute with precision, while building the systems, tools, and culture that enable sustained quality excellence.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead and develop Zipline's Quality Engineering and Quality Technician teams, ensuring effective execution across IQC, EOL, and OQC functions.
Define, implement, and continuously improve quality processes across top-level assemblies (aircraft, droid, dock)
Establish and track key quality metrics including first pass yield, defect rates, rework hours, and field quality escapes (modifying these as scale changes)
Drive cross-functional investigations for major production or field quality issues-owning containment, root cause analysis, corrective/preventive actions (CAPA), and communication to leadership.
Drive PFMEAs for all products to be manufactured on the production lines to establish control plans and quality procedures
Partner with Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, and Product Design to implement design-for-quality (DFQ) and process control strategies that reduce variability and improve manufacturability.
Oversee and optimize incoming inspection programs to ensure parts and subassemblies meet quality standards before entering production.
Champion reliability improvement and validation testing at end-of-line to prevent downstream failures and quality escapes to the field.
Own the overall Quality Management System (QMS) maturity roadmap-balancing rigor with practicality as the company scales.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on driving yield improvement, waste reduction, and process standardization.
Build and foster a culture of accountability, root cause problem-solving, and pride in quality across the production floor.
Serve as the senior quality voice in leadership reviews-providing transparency into risks, performance trends, and improvement priorities.
Must Have Experience / Skill Sets
10+ years of experience in manufacturing quality, reliability, or production engineering, including 3+ years in a leadership role managing quality teams.
Experience with scaling a quality system from low prototype production to low volume production (100/wk) to high volume production (1000s/wk) with complex electro-mechanical hardware (automotive, small aircraft, robotics, etc)
Strong understanding of quality engineering tools and methodologies: PFMEA, control plans, and CAPA.
Demonstrated success in scaling quality systems across complex electro-mechanical products.
Hands-on experience in production environments managing inspection, testing, and validation activities.
Proven ability to reduce quality escapes and improve first pass yield in high-mix, low- to mid-volume operations.
Strong data analysis skills; comfortable using quality metrics to drive improvement and accountability.
Experience collaborating closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, and Design Engineering teams to influence product and process quality.
Excellent leadership and communication skills-capable of motivating teams and driving cross-functional alignment.
Ability to balance hands-on problem solving with long-term strategic planning.
Comfort operating in a fast-paced, ambiguous, and rapidly scaling environment.
Nice to Have
Experience in robotics or automotive manufacturing.
Background in supplier quality and global production scaling.
Familiarity with MES, ERP, and PLM systems for quality data traceability.
Experience managing automated or semi-automated inspection systems.

Independently own all aspects of flight operations, looping in engineering support as needed to make quick progress:

We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Flight Test Project Manager to join our team. This role is critical to ensuring that our flight test organization has the capacity, resources, and infrastructure needed to meet engineering demand and support company-wide milestones. About the Software Integration Team

About You and The Role What You'll Do
You will be at the center of informing Zipline on the critical environmental conditions that our aircraft must fly in to achieve business goals, whilst owning the automated system that enforces those limits operationally to ensure flight safety and protecting an excellent and informed customer experience. You will lead the team that counts the following among its core deliverables:
Design and develop our automated weather monitoring systems to make real-time go/no-go decisions for missions, as well as forecast in-coming weather conditions that would require pausing deliveries;
Define the requirements on flyable weather conditions to achieve business performance goals that are achievable in the context of automated risk system performance;
Set the pace on simulation- and real-world-based weather-related validation strategies, including performance of the weather system risk decisions, operations simulations to determine the role of the weather system on customer experience dynamics, and developing representative but tractable weather models in Zipline's high fidelity flight simulation tools;
Enable and maintain strong and unambiguous communication with customer, fulfilment and flight operations teams, setting expectations for the system uptime, on both seasonal and daily timescales
Drive the development of ground- and air-based sensing to support the risk posture calculations in a scalable and cost-effective way
What You'll Bring
This is a leadership role on a team that is core to Zipline's success, and is therefore not an entry level position. Success in this role will require a disciplined and first-principles approach, with a deep connection and understanding at the system and product levels. You'll be naturally curious and able to work seamlessly with individuals and teams both inside and outside of your core engineering / scientific discipline, as well as regulatory, operations and business partners. Experience in many of the following areas are critical to your ability to contribute at the right level:
You will have a minimum of 5+ years of industry experience, and either be a proven people leader or clearly ready to own and develop a small team (3-5 direct reports).
Advanced proficiency with scientific python and libraries commonly used for data analysis, e.g., Pandas, Numpy, Scipy, and Matplotlib, XArray, NETCDF. In addition, you'll be able to learn new languages and libraries for use in daily work (eg. Rust, C++), and ideally have cloud-native experience with Kubernetes and/or AWS.
Familiarity with geospatial and meteorological datasets, formats, and tools; in particular you'll understand how to efficiently process large datasets across distributed systems and ideally have experience with kafka or other streaming data systems
As well as a strong understanding of descriptive statistics, probability and linear algebra, you will have mastered a wide range of machine learning and statistical techniques, and developed an intuition for what tool to apply in every situation
Adept at summarizing large datasets visually that make complex results understandable at a glance to different audiences. You will be able to find creative ways to take the uncertainty of weather prediction and turn it into certainty for the business.
Excellent understanding of meteorology and climatology, and an ability to communicate the underlying physics and their challenges to a broad audience
You'll be highly self-directed; able to drive a roadmap and ruthlessly prioritize, balancing a core roadmap against the emerging needs of a fast-scaling and complex system. You'll also be proven in setting the pace of a small team, striving to continuously improve the development tools and processes and help folks around you work smarter
Experience with aircraft flight and aviation weather and regulation would be helpful, although you will work closely with other leaders of our flight sciences teams so a willingness to learn this rapidly will suffice. An ability to manipulate the weather would be advantageous, but is not essential.

About the Systems Modeling Team
The Systems Modeling Team has tremendous power to shape Zipline's products. We develop physics-based models and use them to architect our aircraft, as well as the supporting logistics system. Using simulation, we can rapidly explore a vast array of designs to optimize future products, and we can find ways to squeeze more performance out of our existing products.
Systems Modeling brings diverse teams and fields together (e.g. mechanical, aerodynamics, electrical, battery chemistry, thermal, controls, fleet operations, economics) to gain new insights. We translate technical conversations into rigorously framed engineering problems. We value asking pertinent questions and generating coherent answers.
The Role
Leading the way in drone delivery requires pushing the limits of individual component technologies
and
carefully orchestrating which ones we put together to optimize the performance of the
complete vehicle
. How much of the benefit of a larger motor is counteracted by its aerodynamic penalty? How much range are we willing to give up for extra payload capacity? How do we optimally control battery charging - electrically and thermally - to strike a balance between turnaround time and battery longevity?
Answering these types of questions requires high-caliber computational tools. About The Role
We are excited about bringing in an experienced and motivated Revenue Manager to join our fast-paced global Accounting and Finance team! This person will be responsible for overseeing billing, collections and grant reporting processes and leading Zipline through its domestic growth, international expansion, and product launches. About the Global Logistics Team
Zipline's Global Logistics Team ensures the seamless flow of materials and finished products across a complex international supply chain. The Role
The Ground System Deployments team is seeking a curious, collaborative Electrical Engineering Intern to support the design and deployment of Zipline's Ground Systems across a variety of sites and applications.
In this role, you'll gain hands-on experience with commercial and light-industrial electrical distribution as applied to an autonomous drone delivery network. Working alongside experienced engineers, you'll help with utility coordination, site-level electrical design, structure-level wiring approaches, and technical documentation.

The hardware test environment is a multi-disciplinary team responsible for building and maintaining Zipline's engineering prototype fleet. As a Test Technician, you'll play a key role in validating new designs, building and maintaining tester equipment, and providing rapid feedback to engineering teams. About You and The Role
The Embedded Software team is responsible for designing robust systems that power our life-saving drone delivery service in some of the toughest environments on Earth. Our team is responsible for the software stack from bare-metal through the operating system, firmware, peripheral drivers, core libraries, and the tools plus test systems that enable our team to develop reliable safety-critical systems at high velocity. About the Role
The Ground Systems team at Zipline is in charge of all the infrastructures on the ground supporting our autonomous delivery drones with docking, battery charging, thermal management, ground communication and preflight checks. This role is central to enable our next generation of drone logistics, solving complex challenges in power distribution, power conversion, battery charging, high performance microprocessor, high-speed network communication and system-level integration.
Zipline is seeking an electrical engineering leader to manage a high performing team of electrical hardware design for the Ground Systems team. This technical leader will guide and grow these teams as well as be able to own parts of the design directly as the team scales. You and your teams will be responsible for architecting and developing custom Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs), integrated sensing and RF solutions, and complex industrial systems for our new and existing ground systems hardware and validating the solutions for volume scale. Our ground systems are flight and safety critical. They are installed worldwide, and Zipline will depend on this team to develop novel solutions that enable unprecedented scale and efficiency. Success will depend not only on technical innovation, but also on developing a deep understanding of the needs of our customers.
What you'll do
Be the electrical engineering technical leader for ground systems design including low voltage electronics and PCBA development, power electronics and RF systems
Build your teams by hiring and coaching world class electrical engineering design and test teams
Drive architectural decisions and manage the requirements of the next-generation of Zipline's ground system hardware to deliver safe, reliable, high volume and low cost products
Design and validate to relevant North American and international safety and certification standards for scaled deployments
Allocate resources within your team to the electrical engineering projects
Create and manage milestones and deliverables with your team
Maintain visibility across the hardware your team owns, and have the ability to deep dive into projects and challenges
Liaise with other technical leaders both within and outside of the Ground Systems Hardware team (Mechanical Design, Embedded Systems, Validation & Test, Field Operations, Supply Chain, Manufacturing and more)
Leverage your technical leadership experience in hardware design to establish a team culture that biases towards action and tests ideas to achieve radically simple designs
Motivate your team with a clear vision and create ambitious plans for your team's work while holding a high bar for technical quality
Establish best practices, standards, and design and release review processes that enable both high speed development and rigorous execution
What you'll bring
8+ years of demonstrated experience with electronics designs and system integration
2+ year leading a technical engineering team, and direct hiring management experience finding great talent
Experience working with products across various stages of development, from prototype to high volume production
Ability to operate in ambiguous and fast paced environments with demonstrated experience in handling priorities and collaborating across a complex organization
Demonstrated expertise with low voltage digital circuit design and/or power electronics design

About the Deployment & Construction Team
The Deployment and Construction team is responsible for turning bare ground into functional drone charging sites! We're a broad cross-functional team with skills across civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and construction engineering with mandate to deliver world-class construction execution with zero issues in the first 30 days, on-time and on-budget, using scalable, cost-optimized, and serviceable designs.
The Role
The Ground System Deployments team is seeking a curious, collaborative Electrical Engineering Intern to support the design and deployment of Zipline's Ground Systems across a variety of sites and applications.
In this role, you'll gain hands-on experience with commercial and light-industrial electrical distribution as applied to an autonomous drone delivery network. Working alongside experienced engineers, you'll help with utility coordination, site-level electrical design, structure-level wiring approaches, and technical documentation.
You'll collaborate with mechanical, structural, electrical, and deployments teams to support real-world projects and contribute to problem-solving as new challenges arise. This internship also offers opportunities to explore new design ideas and assist with improvements to our engineering processes. You'll work and become familiar with the National Electrical Code and apply the concepts to site and infrastructure designs.
The internship is based in South San Francisco, with occasional travel within California and the U.S. for site visits or field support.
What You'll Do
Support engineers with research, drafting, and documentation for electrical distribution and structure-level wiring designs aligned with NEC and relevant standards.
Assist with UL/TUV certification efforts by gathering documentation, preparing technical materials, and coordinating with engineering partners.
Help prepare materials, track communication, and support interactions with deployment and construction teams
Implement feedback from Deployment teams to continuously optimize designs for more efficient build and scale
Design electrical distribution of commercial and light industrial ground system projects per NEC and relevant applicable codes and standards.
Design structure level electrical wiring and installation approaches.
Evaluate all options and a lean budget, select best vendors to ensure reliable and quality services and products.
Help document project risks, prepare materials for meetings, support communication across teams, and occasionally participate in site visits for field observations.
Create documentation to ensure quality and process refinement between each build to help with consistent scale
Collaborate with engineering and business teams to understand customer needs and contribute to improvements in Ground Systems infrastructure.
Travel to Flight Test sites expected on an ad-hoc basis.
What You'll Bring
Minimum 3rd or 4th year of a bachelor degree program in electrical engineering or a related field, with relevant coursework (e.g., circuits, power systems, construction).
