The Role
Proofpoint is looking for a self-starting, responsible, mature, highly-motivated Sales Engineering Manager to lead a team of talented Sales Engineers.
The ideal candidate will have a solid technical background in email security and prior experience managing technical sales teams. An ability to “lead from the front” and a willingness to act as both player and coach to help your team secure the technical win will be key to your success.
This is a remote position. Candidates should be located in the Western U.S.
Your day-to-day
Oversee the day-to-day operations of your team of Sales Engineers
Resource management - assign projects, accounts, and meetings to sales engineers as required, and resolve scheduling conflicts
Work as an individual contributor for key accounts as needed or requested
Participate in technical sales calls, and contribute to creating sales and evaluation strategy at the account level.
Engage directly with customers in technical or sales escalations, and drive issues to resolution.
Provide technical leadership and product expertise to the team as well as the larger sales organization.

Requirements
7-10 years of experience in sales engineering
Prior management experience
Technical background in messaging and security
Experience with both Linux and Windows
A thorough background of Internet protocols and how they work (HTTP, SMTP, etc.)
Knowledge of networking topology, TCP/IP protocol, and network configuration and components (firewalls, routers, load balancers, etc.)
CISSP and related certifications are a plus
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
Travel is required

Reports to: Vice President of Financial Reporting and Strategic Investments
Participate on cross‑functional teams as a representative of the Finance organization in evaluating the accounting for potential M&A and investment areas and ad‑hoc specific opportunities being considered by the Company.
Create and review technical memoranda, accounting policies, training materials, and other documentation supported and corroborated by research, analysis and concise conclusions.
Articulate issues and recommendations in a crisp and concise manner to both financial and non‑financial stakeholders to enable better decision‑making.
Establish, maintain, and provide expertise on current and upcoming U.S. GAAP, including topics specific to M&A, private and public equity, debt instruments, consolidation, VIE and equity‑method accounting, and the related presentation and disclosure requirements.
Lead and/or contribute to relevant projects on behalf of the accounting team, such as acquisitions or other strategic investments and new accounting pronouncements.
Work closely with other stakeholders to assist in the integration of acquisitions and strategic partnerships.
Assist in the identification and resolution of key U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting issues and formulation of findings into memos and disclosures.

What You Bring
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or similar field required.
At least eight years of experience with a top‑tier accounting (Big 4 strongly preferred) or strategy firm. National Office and/or transactional advisory experience preferred.
Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP (familiarity with ASC sections 805, 810, 815, 820, 606, 321, and 323 preferred) and SEC reporting requirements.
Ability to research technical accounting matters and prepare well‑written memorandums and presentations articulating these matters to well‑versed accountants and non‑finance stakeholders both internal and external to the organization.
Sarbanes‑Oxley Act (SOX) experience and the ability to implement business processes required to ensure compliance with its tenets.
Ability to leverage Artificial Intelligence tools (i.e. ChatGPT) to enhance productivity of yourself and the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
The SSCF Virtual Seminar Program Coordinator provides comprehensive program coordination and executive-level administrative support to ensure the seamless execution of all requirements outlined in the PWS. Working closely with the Virtual Seminar Director and Fellows, the Coordinator operates independently and with consistent professionalism, tact, and clear communication-particularly when engaging senior DoD leaders. Responsibilities include supporting the full class lifecycle from onboarding to graduation: preparing welcome materials, collecting required documentation, ordering curriculum books, coordinating technology requirements, and preparing orientation resources. The coordinator also plans and executes all aspects of virtual graduation events, including invitations, scripts, presentations, speaker coordination, and technical setup. Additional academic support involves coordinating university course registration, tuition, book orders, transcript issues, and managing DAU Teams links.
Throughout the academic year, the coordinator manages guest speaker engagements; conducts market research for seminar presenters; schedules workshops; prepares certificates; supports virtual events; and coordinates photo, audio, and visual requirements. They maintain the master seminar schedule, distribute weekly updates and "Look Ahead" summaries, manage Outlook and Teams calendars, and ensure Fellows receive accurate event details, biographies, and materials. The role includes remote coordination for travel, tours, and joint events such as Gettysburg, Army War College, PACOM/EUCOM, and PMT week; maintaining photo archives; updating SSCF brochures and webpages; and managing alumni communications. Financial support duties include preparing purchase request documentation, tracking expenditures in Excel, and coordinating with DAU budget personnel. The coordinator is also responsible for submitting monthly activity reports and monthly External Speaker Reports through ServiceNOW.
Minimum Qualifications:
