1940 Doctor Everett McDonough again revolutionizes waving with the invention of the ‘Mercapton Cold Wave Permanent’, requiring no heat and ensuring greater client comfort.

1955 Zotos launches Concentrate Shampoos to replace the uneconomical water inflated shampoos commonly found on store shelves.

1958 Zotos introduces Colorette - a ‘sit-up’, no water rinsing color rinse.

1961 Warm and Gentle perms are introduced with the largest introductory sales in company history and quickly become the most popular Zotos perms.

1966 Zotos launches a permanent oxidative-type hair color, called Vitacolor, which quickly gains popularity because of its positive color coverage and unique conditioning benefits.

1969 ‘Sales Affiliates, Inc.’ becomes Zotos International Inc. and establishes headquarters in Darien, Connecticut with a production plant in Geneva, NY.

Joico, launched in 1975, is the first brand to use human hair keratin to reconstruct damaged hair.

1977 Feels So Lively perms join the product line up.

1979 The Zotos Creative Design Group (ZCD) is established - an elite group of hair designers dedicated to providing professional hair design education at Zotos In-Salon Workshops.

1985 Zotos launches one of the first spa-inspired hair care brands, Bain de Terre.

1988 Shiseido International purchases Zotos and adds even more depth to the Zotos extensive research and development capabilities, resulting in unparalleled marketing synergies worldwide.

1994 The combined synergy of Zotos and Shiseido results in the development of Senscience hair care.

1997 Naturelle Nutri-Ox is launched as a Price Value Alternative to Nioxin; leveraging the latest innovations and advanced technologies to deliver thicker, fuller, denser-looking hair.

2007 Joico pioneers the reconstruction hair color category with the introduction of VERO K-PAK COLOR, the first hair color that reconstructs as you color.

2010 Joico K-PAK Color Therapy receives LIFE AND STYLE Magazine Life and Style Beauty Award for “Best Shampoo and Conditioner."
