Why is that? We spend a considerable amount of time traveling to and from our jobs, often in traffic that can vary dramatically from day to day. Some days, it may be a quick 30-minute trip, while others can stretch to over an hour. It’s no surprise that sitting in traffic is not a favorite pastime.

How We Identified Connecticut’s Shortest Commute Locations
Commuting can often feel like a burden, and researching the shortest commutes can be a daunting task. However, at Zippia, we take on the challenge so you don’t have to.
Our analysis primarily relied on the American Community Survey data, which provides reliable insights into average commute times across various locations in Connecticut. The Census Bureau collects this information, allowing us to rank each location from the shortest to the longest commute.
To give additional context, we calculated the total average annual commute time in hours. Since the American Community Survey presents one-way commute times in minutes, we doubled this number, multiplied it by 200 (the typical number of working days), and then divided by 60 to convert it into hours.
The difference in commute times can be significant; for example, the longest commute can equate to over four extra days spent on the road compared to the shortest commute in Connecticut.
