each state's favorite music festival

As we enter the vibrant seasons of spring and summer, the anticipation of music festivals fills the air. There’s nothing quite like the thrill of immersing yourself in a weekend of live performances, dancing, and community at a top-tier music festival.

From the legendary Woodstock to today’s expansive festival landscape, the love for music festivals has only intensified. Nearly every state in the U.S. now hosts its own unique music celebration throughout the year, showcasing diverse genres and artists.

In 2026, major music festivals across the country attract not just thousands, but hundreds of thousands of attendees. This leads us to explore what each state’s favorite music festival might be, a quest we set out to clarify.

Most Interesting Findings:

  • Each state showed a clear preference for its local music festival. For instance, New Yorkers searched for Governor’s Ball and Electric Zoo more than anyone else, while Texans showed a strong interest in Austin City Limits.

  • Geographic proximity influenced festival popularity. Arizona favored Coachella, and Indiana leaned towards Lollapalooza, which is held in nearby Illinois.

  • Bonnaroo emerged as the favorite among southern states, particularly Florida, Kentucky, Georgia, and West Virginia.

  • Electric Zoo garnered interest from states all over the country, from Idaho to Alaska.
