One of the most sought after aspects of any job or career, according to basically every survey, is compensation. You want to get paid well for what you do.
To what end you may ask? Well, to live in one the richest neighborhoods in Des Moines and have all the other Des Moineers look upon your abode with awe and desire.
So we decided to look into where the wealthiest residents of Des Moines decide to call home.
Using data from AreaVibes, we were able to identify the ten places where the managers in town live using median incomes and home prices. The result is this set of the richest neighborhoods in Des Moines:
- Westwood
- Linden Heights
- Waterbury
- Salisbury Oaks
- Greenwood
- Ingersoll Park
- Southwestern Hills
- Waveland Park
- Meredith
- Bloomfield-Allen

How do you decide if a Des Moines neighborhood is wealthy or not?
In order to live in the fancy part of town you need to bring home the bacon, and not just the bacon, but basically the whole pig. In other words, you need to earn more money than average.
So we went around researching the following two crtieria for all 52 neighborhoods in Des Moines:
- Median Household Income
- Median Home Values
We then ranked each neighborhood from one to 52 for each of those criteria with one being the “richest”. In the event of a tie, we gave the neighborhood with the larger population the advantage.
Next, we averaged the ranking of the two criteria to create a “Rich Score” for each neighborhood.
Finally, we ranked the “Rich Score” of each neighborhood from one to 52, with the number one spot, Westwood, being crowned the “Richest Neighborhood In Des Moines”.
