How We Identified the Smartest Places in the Sooner State

To determine which cities to evaluate, we focused on those with populations exceeding 5,000 and sufficient data across all criteria.

This analysis encompassed 74 cities in Oklahoma.

We utilized the following criteria to identify the most educated cities:

Our data is derived from the latest American Community Survey conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau.

We believe these criteria effectively represent the current educational landscape and the potential for cities to enhance educational outcomes for future generations. In fact, approximately 80% of students graduate from high school in recent years.

To rank the cities, we assigned scores from 1 to 74 for each criterion, with 1 being the “smartest” in that category. We then calculated the average rank across all criteria, awarding the title of “Smartest City in Oklahoma” to the location with the highest overall score.
