    We are currently searching for an energetic Appraiser Assistant to support our West Central Region located in St. Louis, MO or Springfield, IL .

    Volkert’s appraisal department appraises properties for eminent domain purposes; with staff appraisers completing physically field inspects. The Appraisal Assistant work with all staff in creating/maintaining an inventory of data (a data base) of properties, as required. Properties appraised include improved and unimproved rural, farm, residential, and commercial properties, and manufactured homes, depending on assignment or specialization.

    The nature of the work requires the Appraisal Assistant to be detail oriented and time sensitive to mandated deadlines. The Appraiser Assistant must meet required production quotas as established by the Supervisors. The Appraiser Assistant must also perform market analysis and research. The principal duties of this class are performed in a general in-home office environment with initial in-office training.

    This is an administrative/technical hybrid position involving responsibility for obtaining and publishing data used by professional personnel in making appraisals of real property, and the associated publishing of the appraisal conclusions. Work is performed in collaboration with, and under the direct direction of, the staff Real Estate Appraisal Technician and staff Appraisers.

    Duties:

    • Assists the appraisers by providing information, reviewing, and completing appropriate forms with factual characteristics: i.e., property data, zoning, flood zones, market area, neighborhood area, tax, assessor, title reports, plats, project plans, sales data, deeds, etc.
    • Provides information and notice to project managers, appraisers, and property owners to coordinate work regarding the appraisal process. Communicates with concerned entities regarding coordination of steps necessary to complete appraisal reports and associated valuation services.
    • The Real Estate Appraisal Assistant must have a firm understanding of where to find factual information about Real Estate and associated Real Property by looking at county records, title reports, deeds, plats, project plans, sales sheets/reports provided by data services, etc.
    • The Real Estate Appraisal Assistant must also have a firm understanding of varied appraisal reporting structures regarding the location of static facts /information, so they are able to input that facts /information into published valuation and appraisal reports.

    Responsibilities:

    • Produces information by transcribing, formatting, inputting, editing, retrieving, copying, and transmitting text, data, and graphics
    • Organizes work by reading and routing correspondence; collecting information; and initiating communications
