    Adopt-A-Trailhead Montana (AATM) and Pull-Your-Share (PYS) are cooperative volunteer programs that help protect Montana's trails from the spread of noxious weeds. Noxious weeds at trailheads will lead to infested backcountry, city parks, and recreation areas which threatens Montana's tourism economy, wildlife habitat, and native plant communities. These programs aim to stop and control noxious weeds at the trailhead, educate the public about noxious weeds and provide ways they can act against spreading noxious weeds when recreating. AATM started in 2015, and since then there have been 74 kiosks installed with around 42 of those trailheads adopted. Volunteer groups work with state, city or federal agencies to adopt a trailhead or park and are responsible for hosting at least one weed pull per year. PYS was created by a Great Falls teacher and involves both classroom instruction and a field trip where teachers and students pull weeds at a site and learn about natural resource careers. This service member will maintain all current kiosks, recruit volunteer groups for new or existing trailheads without adoptees, conduct kiosk installs, run volunteer days at weed pull events, conduct classroom instruction, host school field trips, maintain social media and outreach for the program, work with other agencies and NGOs to strengthen the program, and assists other noxious weed programs at the department as needed. This position will be in the field and on the road about 40% of the time. The remaining 60% will be conducted in a typical office environment. The position requires personnel to operate and monitor a variety of pumping stations located across the Site to ensure proper water containment and compliance with the overall water management plan. Pumping equipment includes centrifugal pumps, electric motors, submersible pumps, well pumps, and numerous diesel-powered emergency backup generators. The Site is staffed 2 to 8 hours per day, 365 days per year with a minimum of one operator onsite. Weekend and Holiday work is sometimes required. Occasional extended shifts are required due to planned and unplanned work conditions. Planned work conditions may include overseeing earthwork subcontractors, relocation of sludge piping, and completing critical repairs. Systems within the treatment plant include a desktop computer (Human Machine Interface), variety of pumps, tank mixers, and clarifiers. The position requires personnel to operate and monitor a variety of pumping stations located across the Site to ensure proper water containment and compliance with the overall water management plan. Pumping equipment includes centrifugal pumps, electric motors, submersible pumps, well pumps, and numerous diesel-powered emergency backup generators. The Site is staffed 2 to 8 hours per day, 365 days per year with a minimum of one operator onsite. Weekend and holiday work is sometimes required. Occasional extended shifts are required due to planned and unplanned work conditions. Planned work conditions may include overseeing earthwork subcontractors, relocation of sludge piping, and completing critical repairs. Unplanned extended shifts may include plant outages and bad weather. The Water Treatment Plant Operator 2 position is full-time and permanent and requires working both indoors and outdoors, in all weather conditions. Occasional periods of heavy physical labor (shoveling, lifting, etc.) are required. The Water Treatment Plant Operator 2 will oversee part-time staff that will assist in the operation of the treatment plant. Formal Training: You will be required to complete a paid pre-academy orientation for approximately two (2) weeks at your home port. You will then attend a 101-day training program - CBP Field Operations Academy - conducted at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) located in Glynco, GA. This training consists of basic law enforcement skills, immigration laws, firearms training, examination of cargo/bags/merchandise, physical fitness, etc. Candidates assigned to the southern border, Miami, or Puerto Rico duty locations must attend and pass an online Spanish training program, which will be completed at their home port.
