A Brief Overview
A Technician Trainee will be trained and educated to become a proficient auto glass technician. Upon completing ourtraining program, the trainee will receive the Safelite SafeTech certification and will possess fundamental skills necessary for performing unsupervised glass repair, replacement and recalibrations. The trainee is expected to embody the Safelite Spirit with a can-do attitude, caring heart and service mindset while striving to bring unexpected happiness to customers by completing jobs timely and with the highest quality standards.
What you will do
• Be paid to learn and apprentice the Safelite way, through hands-on and classroom training, including:
• Observing and assisting in installing and repairing auto glass
• Recalibrating automotive safety systems, including trouble-shooting and completing diagnostic testing
• Providing additional services & products
• Study and pass testing to become a Safelite-certified Technician showing proficiency in installations, embracing a positive attitude and following taught techniques.
• Safely operate company and customer vehicles, company-issued tools and chemicals utilized throughout the workday.
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Complies with all policies and standards

Education Qualifications
• High School Diploma GED/Equivalent Preferred
• Valid state-issued driver's license any other license(s) (as required by federal, state and local laws) to operate a company vehicle. Required

• Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

• Ability to operate a motor vehicle in accordance with all federal, state and local laws and agreement to be monitored via in-cab vehicle safety camera / video surveillance technology

• Ability to safely work outside (in a wide variety of weather conditions and extreme temperatures) for extended periods
• Ability to work with chemicals (including but not limited to flammable chemicals), as applicable per the “Safelite Way of Fitting”

• Proficiency in using computerized diagnostic tools to complete recalibrations and trouble-shoot issues

Responsibilities
Inspect job materials, ensuring the product(s) are correct for the job and that there are no obvious flaws with product
Install all products and services included in the work order, troubleshoot, and strive to resolve any installation problems that might occur on-site
If it's not possible to safely perform a quality service or installation on the date promised, effectively note all issues, and required materials necessary to complete the installation to the customer's satisfaction at a later date.
Communicate with relevant team members regarding any incomplete work, ensuring that any new materials are ordered, the cause of the incomplete work, and update customer on why work was not completed that day.
Take care of the customer's home/business, ensuring we leave it cleaner than when we found it... use booties, etc...
Close out the installation by walking the customer through the care and maintenance of products, walk them through warranty (if applicable), and how to contact us if they ever need service or have additional questions

About the Position
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Auto Glass Technician with two plus years of prior experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, repairing, and replacing automotive glass on various vehicles, ensuring the highest level of quality, safety, and customer satisfaction. This position comes with most glass tools, uniforms, and a company vehicle.
This is a full-time opportunity that works during the 8:00 am - 4:30 pm time frame, Monday through Friday. The Auto Glass Technician will report to the Glass Manager and pay will commensurate with the chosen candidate's experience.
Essential Job Functions
Inspect and assess damaged auto glass to determine appropriate repair or replacement techniques
Remove damaged windshields, side, and rear windows using proper tools and safety protocols
Accurately install replacement glass using urethane adhesive and ensuring proper fit and seal
Repair small chips and cracks to prevent further damage and maintain structural integrity
Explain procedures and recommendations to customers, ensuring they understand the work performed
Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly maintained
Follow all safety protocols and industry standards to ensure the safety of customers and team members
Maintain a safe and satisfactory driving record according to company policy
Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Minimum Requirements
A minimum of two (2) years of experience in the Auto Glass industry
Must be 18 years of age or older
High school diploma or equivalent
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work
Prior technical schooling or training related to the automotive field is preferred, but not required
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and ability to pass a background and credit check
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift or carry large and heavy objects (up to 50 pounds)
Standing, bending, and reaching for extended periods during service tasks
