We are currently seeking a dependable, hardworking, focused, and highly motivated Mechanical Estimator for Berg Enterprises, Inc. who has a high level of knowledge in commercial HVAC and plumbing estimating as well as general construction.
This position reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer in the review of plans/specs, solicitation/negotiation of prices from contractors and suppliers, quantity takeoffs, and all other tasks associated with a complete bid/estimating process, including closeout.
Responsibilities.
Manage, organize, and communicate bid documentation for target pursuits to meet company objectives in both the short and long term
Communicate with project leads to clarify the scope of work, materials, and schedule requirements while also maintaining and building relationships
Read, understand, and assign costs to all bid-related documents (drawings, specs, instructions to bidders)
Develop conceptual engineering capabilities, including equipment selection, layout & sizing
Perform detailed take-off and unit cost estimates of mechanical, plumbing, and process piping estimates
Perform pricing breakouts as required by customers, general contractors and subcontractors
Request, obtain, and evaluate vendor pricing while continuously following up on all bid projects and future awards/probabilities
Electronically maintain records of all working documents and dates to back up estimates
Oversee multiple tasks and respond to multiple requests simultaneously
Assemble accurate and well-organized estimates and proposals in a timely manner
Recommendations.
Understanding and knowledge of SMACNA standards that pertain to sheet metal ducting and HVAC systems
Ability to estimate both design-build and plan/spec projects
Competency with computerized estimating and digital takeoff software
Proficiency with Google Workspace, Bluebeam, and MS Office Suite
Proficiency with mechanical takeoff software
Detail-oriented personality with excellent organizational skills
Ability to work and produce within a deliverable deadline
Minimum of 3-5 years of successful experience preparing estimates for commercial mechanical projects

Safely operate a Class A vehicle between the Medline Facility and multiple customer destinations on a delivery route. Abide by Medline's safety regulations, including wearing safety equipment where needed, performing safety checks, etc.
Unload and deliver product at our customer facilities, ensuring timely deliveries.
Provide in-person support to the customer - addressing their questions and needs and providing appropriate documentation upon delivery.
Communicate with dispatching team regarding necessary adjustments to delivery route or schedule in order to meet customer needs and maintain safe operations.
Maintain a travel and cargo log in accordance with Federal and State regulations and company policy.
Perform inspection of vehicle to ensure safe operation and sufficient fuel levels for continued vehicle use.

Conduct safety orientation sessions for all employees, on-site workers and representatives.
Inform employees of their safety rights and responsibilities per regulations and the manual.

Load and secure product from the Medline Facility into a truck.
Safely operate a Class A vehicle between the Medline Facility and multiple customer destinations on a delivery route. Abide by Medline's safety regulations, including wearing safety equipment where needed, performing safety checks, etc.
Unload and deliver product at our customer facilities, ensuring timely deliveries.
Provide in-person support to the customer - addressing their questions and needs and providing appropriate documentation upon delivery.
Communicate with dispatching team regarding necessary adjustments to delivery route or schedule in order to meet customer needs and maintain safe operations.
Maintain a travel and cargo log in accordance with Federal and State regulations and company policy.
Perform inspection of vehicle to ensure safe operation and sufficient fuel levels for continued vehicle use.
