Base Pay:
Effective July 1, 2025 - $35.73 - $43.85
Effective July 1, 2026 - 8.65% Base Salary Increase

ADDITIONAL PAY (UPON ASSIGNMENT AND ELIGIBILITY):
* Longevity Pay - beginning at 10 years of service, 5%; 15 years of service, 7.5%.
* Bilingual Pay - $100 per month.
* Medical-in-lieu - Employees who waive the City's medical coverage shall receive $200 per month for employee only, $350 per month for employee plus one, and $500 per month for family.
* Incentives - up to 2.5% - 10%

Performs highly skilled electrical/instrumentation installation, repair, maintenance, and modification work; performs related work as assigned. May assign, direct, and review the work of staff engaged in electrical/instrumentation installation, repair, and maintenance of work.

Receives direction from the Utilities Maintenance Supervisor. Exercises no direct supervision over staff.
CLASS CHARACTERISTICS
This is a single incumbent position that performs specialized electrical technician duties and provides technical instruction and expertise to other staff. Incumbents are expected to act independently and keep supervisors apprised of their work needs as well as the time and materials needed to complete the tasks in most efficient and timely manner. In addition, incumbents provide functional and technical direction to staff as a regular part of their work routine and are required to be fully trained in all procedures related to the assigned functional area.

* Uses and performs maintenance on a variety of tools, electrical, and electronic test equipment; calibrates equipment as required; assists in reading and calibrating gauges and meters used for process control.
* Assists in maintaining an inventory of materials, tools and supplies; requisitions materials as required.
* Maintains and calibrates critical equipment for facility safety, including fixed and portable as detectors, safety alarms, and associated systems and equipment.
* Confers with operations staff to determine equipment problems; suggests methods of minimizing such problems in an operational setting.

Education and Experience:
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
Equivalent to graduation from high school and four (4) years of experience in electrical/instrumentation technology, or other field closely related to water or wastewater plant electrical/instrumentation work.
Licenses and Certifications:
* Possession of a valid Class C California driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record.
* Possession of a Mechanical Technologist Grade I Certificate from the California Water Environmental Association within the probationary period.
* CWEA Electrical and Instrumentation Tech 2; or the Certified Control Systems Technician Level I (CCST) within probationary period.
The following certifications are desirable and eligible for an incentive add pay, pursuant to the IUOE MOU:

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must possess mobility to work in wastewater treatment plants, water plants, and related facilities; strength, stamina, and mobility to perform medium to heavy physical work, to work in confined spaces, around machines and to climb and descend ladders, and to operate varied hand and power tools and construction equipment; vision to read printed material and a computer screen; color vision to read gauges and identify appurtenances; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone or radio. The job involves fieldwork requiring frequent walking in operational areas to identify problems or hazards. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate above-mentioned tools and equipment. Positions in this classification bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb to perform work and inspect work sites.
