Job Responsibilities:
Setup and operate any equipment in the fabrication department as required
Fabricate parts using production schedules, cut sheets and blueprints
Move material in and out of fabrication department
Perform preventative maintenance to keep tools and equipment in good working condition
Practice good housekeeping and keep work area organized
Inspect work for quality, workmanship and that they meet blueprint tolerances

High Plains Structural Group seeking a skilled Welder/Fabricator to join our team. This position is responsible for fabricating, fitting, and welding structural steel and miscellaneous metal components according to shop drawings and specifications. The ideal candidate takes pride in craftsmanship, works safely, and can operate independently or as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
Read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, and weld symbols
Fabricate structural steel and miscellaneous metal assemblies
Perform welding using processes such as MIG (GMAW), Stick (SMAW), and Flux-Core (FCAW)
Measure, cut, fit, and assemble steel components accurately
Operate shop equipment including saws, grinders, torches, and forklifts
Perform quality inspections of completed welds and assemblies
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
Follow all safety procedures and company policies
Work with supervisors and team members to meet production schedules
Required Qualifications
2+ years of experience as a welder/fabricator (structural steel preferred)
Ability to read blueprints and welding symbols
Proficiency with MIG, Stick, and/or Flux-Core welding
Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in a shop environment
Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
Preferred Qualifications
AWS welding certification(s)

What you'll be doing
Set up welding machines in accordance with operation process sheet instructions, and prepare and evaluate proper tests to meet schedule requirements.
Position and clamp together components of fabricated metal products preparatory to welding.
Set up welding equipment and fixtures to perform welding operations in accordance with operation instructions and dimensional requirements.
Develop and prepare a schedule for welding the daily requirement for liftgates or parts.
Perform production welding for multiple liftgate lines, as required.
Performs related tasks such as thermal cutting and grinding.
Repair broken or cracked parts, fill holes, and increase the size of metal parts.
Follow company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with internal and external requirements.
Maintain work area for cleanliness and organization.
Perform other duties as required.
Required Skills:

Ability to stand and/or walk for extended durations of time.
