Shapes and smooths graphite, models, ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces to specifications following finish charts and other visual aids. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. • Removes 3-D scallops and EDM finish from workpiece using angle grinders, profiler, pencil grinder or stones. • Handworks or contours ejector pins, radii, weld or mismatch on various work pieces. • Uses knowledge of the polishing process to ready workpieces to be buffed to achieve mirror finishes. • Wears all provided safety apparel when doing acid tests in preparation for texture. • Masks off cavity, core, or any part area prior to sand blasting. • May on occasion be required to touch up a mold while still in the molding press. • Discuss problem areas with supervisor, leadman, or co-workers to find the most efficient resolution of said problem. • Communicates with co-workers and supervisor to receive instructions. • Keeps work area clean and organized per 5S Initiative. • Operates forklift (requires license).
