American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter - Letterkenny Army Depot

Overview:


ProSidian Consulting is seeking a highly skilled American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter to support an engagement for DOD/Military Sector Clients at Letterkenny Army Depot. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in ASL interpretation and be able to provide high-quality interpretation services to support hard of hearing and/or deaf employees and customers.
Responsibilities:

* Provide ASL interpretation services on an as-needed basis

* Translate spoken and written English to hard of hearing and/or deaf employees and customers

* Ensure all interpretation is of the highest level to the Army and its customers

* Work to learn Army acronyms and related terms, words, and/or phrases to ensure accurate interpretation

* Work with Army leaders and employees to support the mission of the contract

* Perform other duties as required

Qualifications:

* Six (6) years of ASL interpreting experience post interpreter certification in a professional setting

* OR

* A Bachelor's Degree in a related field (ASL Interpreting, Deaf Studies, ASL Studies, ASL Linguistics) AND Four (4) years of ASL interpreting experience post interpreter certification/degree in a professional setting

* OR

* A Master's Degree in a related field (ASL Interpreting, Deaf Studies, ASL Studies, ASL Linguistics) AND Three (3) years of ASL interpreting experience post interpreter certification/degree in a professional setting

* Current National Interpreter Certification (CI/CT, NAD-IV, NAD-V, NIC, NIC Advanced, or NIC Master); OR State Interpreter Certification (BEI, TX)

* Ability to interpret fluently in ASL

* Ability to interpret for meaning using verbatim, conceptually accurate or idiomatic methods

* High degree of accuracy of interpretation

* Willingness to provide, accept, and incorporate feedback from the COR, from other interpreters, and from Federal employees/contractors

* Previous experience in effectively interpreting on a consistent basis for US Government DP employees highly preferred
