Financial Clearance Coordinator

Overview:


Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago is seeking a Financial Clearance Coordinator to join our team. As a Financial Clearance Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring pre-certifications are completed prior to visits for all scheduled appointments, and managing precertification cases for outpatient surgery, admission authorizations, radiology, sleep studies, and referrals for office visits.
Responsibilities:

1. Ensure pre-certifications are completed prior to visit for all scheduled appointments. 2. Manage precertification cases for outpatient surgery, admission authorizations, radiology, sleep studies, and referrals for office visits. 3. Maintain current knowledge of insurance requirements, benefit provisions, and pre-certification. 4. Contact patient and/or division teams to provide updates on precertification status and timeliness. 5. Generate patient estimates and contact patient to provide details on patient financial responsibility. 6. Update patient's registration information as needed. 7. Consistently meet quality and productivity requirements. 8. Other job functions as assigned.
Qualifications:

1. High school graduate required; BS or BA preferred. 2. Excellent communication/listening skills. 3. Demonstrates knowledge of utilization management process including communication with payors and benefit authorization for applicable situations. 4. Experience reviewing medical charts/records and abstracting relevant clinical data to support medical necessity of scheduled procedures. 5. Minimum two years' experience in pre-certification initiation in a hospital/facility setting or physician office environment working.
