Overview:
Southwestern Community College District (SWCCD) is seeking a qualified part-time instructor to teach Japanese in person, web-enhanced, hybrid, and online modalities. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching beginning and intermediate levels of Japanese and be available to teach at various campus sites and local high schools.
Responsibilities:
Provides instruction in Interpretive, Presentational, and Interpersonal Communication in Japanese, focusing on linguistic structures, vocabulary development, and cultural products, practices, and perspectives. May include a combination of day, evening, weekend, and extension site assignments.
Qualifications:
* Master's in Japanese or Bachelor's in Japanese and Master's in another language or linguistics or the equivalent
* Additional assessment required for applicants with foreign degrees from colleges or universities outside of the United States
* Desired qualifications include experience teaching Japanese at the college level, communicative methodologies, and knowledge of ACTFL standards
