Overview:
The Department of Anthropology in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Anthropological Archaeology to start in August 2025. This is a standard nine-month faculty appointment. The department seeks candidates who will complement and/or expand upon existing program strengths.
Responsibilities:
* 40% Teaching: Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, develop new curricula, and mentor students
* 40% Research: Conduct an active research program in anthropological archaeology, secure extramural funding, and publish research in peer-reviewed journals
* 20% Service: Participate in departmental, college, and university service, and contribute to the development of a scholarly environment
Qualifications:
* Minimum Qualifications:
+ Ph.D. in anthropology or a closely related field from an accredited institution of higher education conferred by the start of appointment
+ An active research program in anthropological archaeology
* Preferred Qualifications:
+ Demonstrated theoretical and methodological expertise that complements or expands on existing program foci
+ A strong record of national/international scholarship, including extramural funding and peer-reviewed publications
+ Demonstrated experience teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses, and ability to develop new curricula
+ Demonstrated ability to mentor undergraduate and graduate students in independent research
+ Demonstrated commitment to cultivating a scholarly environment for all through teaching, mentoring, research, outreach, and service
