Police Dispatcher

Overview:


The Fresno State Police Department is seeking a Police Dispatcher to join our team. As a Police Dispatcher, you will be responsible for providing critical support to the department's law enforcement and traffic management functions. Responsibilities:

* Answer emergency and non-emergency calls for service, dispatching police units and providing critical information to officers in the field

* Operate a computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system to track and manage calls for service

* Coordinate with police units, emergency medical services, and other agencies to ensure a timely and effective response to emergencies

* Provide support to the department's traffic management functions, including managing traffic flow and responding to traffic-related incidents

* Maintain accurate records and reports, including incident reports, dispatch logs, and other reports as required

* Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of department policies, procedures, and protocols

Qualifications:

* High school diploma or equivalent required; some college or a degree in a related field preferred

* One year of experience in a dispatching or law enforcement-related role; experience with a CAD system and emergency medical dispatching (EMD) protocols preferred

* Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple priorities and deadlines

* Excellent communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills

* Ability to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
