Overview:


We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Building Projects Manager to join our team in the Department of Public Works - Building Division in Hilo. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the planning, design, construction, renovation, repair, and maintenance of new and existing County facilities.
Responsibilities:

* Supervise, direct, and coordinate the capital improvement building construction and repair activities for the County

* Plan, develop, and implement a long-range plan for the construction of new County facilities and the repair and maintenance of existing facilities

* Conduct on-site inspections of work in progress to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and adherence to codes, ordinances, regulations, and laws

* Operate a vehicle to travel to inspection sites and meetings

* Prepare, review, analyze, and resolve planning issues, designs, drawings, specifications, engineering reports, technical information, and cost estimates

* Work with multiple state and county agencies on project development and construction

* Read, interpret, and approve construction plans, designs, and specifications for new and/or existing structures and facilities

* Coordinate and direct the work of subordinate staff, consulting professional engineers, architects, planners, and others engaged in the planning, design, and construction process

* Plan, assign, and review the work of subordinates; recommend personnel actions including hiring, promotion, disciplinary actions, and terminations

* Participate in conducting personnel investigations and resolves problems that arise

* Investigate, analyze, and resolve major issues encountered during the planning, design, and construction process

* Prepare, justify, and monitor the section's operational and capital improvement project budget requests

* Enforce and comply with all Federal, State, and County laws, regulations, and policies relating to occupational safety and health

Qualifications:

* A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to:

+ Graduation from an accredited college or university with a baccalaureate degree in architecture, civil, electrical, mechanical, or structural engineering

+ Four (4) years of registered professional architecture, civil, electrical, mechanical, or structural engineering work experience

+ Two (2) years of which shall have included the coordination and direction of work of professional architects or engineers engaged in major architectural or engineering projects

+ Possession of a valid Certificate of Registration in the United States as a professional architect, civil, electrical, mechanical, or structural engineer

+ Possession of a valid State of Hawai'i driver's license (Class 3) or any other valid comparable driver's license
