Police Officer

Overview:
The Police Officer is responsible for coordinating with various divisions of the Police Department to protect life and property, enforce state and federal laws, and preserve order throughout the community.
Responsibilities:

* Enforce state and federal laws and municipal ordinances

* Respond to community needs and preserve order throughout the community

* Coordinate with various divisions of the Police Department

* Protect life and property

* Conduct investigations, testify in court, and complete reports

* Participate in training and professional development activities

* Maintain a high level of physical fitness and pass periodic fitness tests

Qualifications:

* High school diploma or GED (college degree or college coursework in criminal justice preferred)

* Valid driver's license by date of application

* Good driving record

* Pass a comprehensive written exam, physical agility test, oral board interview, polygraph exam, psychological evaluation, and background investigation

* Successfully complete a state-certified police academy and Field Training Officer program

* Serve a 12-month probationary period after commissioning

* Bilingual skills preferred
