Literacy High Impact Tutor

Overview:


The Hickman Mills C-1 School District is partnering with SchoolSmartKC to provide literacy intervention services to students. We are seeking a highly qualified and dedicated tutor to work with students on reading and literacy skills.
Responsibilities:

* Provide one-on-one tutoring to students in reading and literacy skills

* Implement literacy intervention strategies and programs

* Work with students from diverse backgrounds and learning styles

* Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to develop and implement literacy plans

* Keep multiple stakeholder groups informed of critical issues, activities, and schedules

* Promote the school and its mission to a broad and diverse group

Qualifications:

* Understanding of/willing to learn about literacy development, reading strategies, and the Science of Reading principles

* Experience working with students on reading and literacy, preferred

* Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students from diverse backgrounds

* Patience, adaptability, and a passion for helping students succeed

* A degree/training in education, literacy studies, or a related field preferred

* Desire to continue professional development

* Excellent organization skills and an ability to coordinate multiple tasks and activities

* Outstanding verbal and written communication skills

* Ability to maintain confidentiality of information about students and teachers

* Must pass a background check
